Gone are the days when we believed whatever the government told us to be truth
  • November 1963 is when the American public lost control of our federal government.
  • I was 15 and in my social studies class when it was announced over the P.A. system. Schools all shut down. Everyone left so quietly or cried . What a tragic day. Watched TV non stop and saw everything happen. No one alive then will forget it. It was a different time. Our nation mourned.

On 11-22.63 I was 13. That day was the first time I ever saw my beloved, always upbeat, Dad cry. It still hurts 60 years later for both reasons.

Four may have pulled the trigger, but there were many involved in his assassination - and that’s the reason why thousands of those files are still being illegally withheld.

I think we don’t often hear enough about how amazingly brave and courageously Jackie acted. She was a legend.

I remember, as an eleven year old child, finding it questionable how Oswald was gunned down and silenced so shortly after. I believe I saw it on live television at the time. It seemed almost like a setup.

I was eight years old when the principal came to our class and whispered to our teacher that President Kennedy was assassinated. It was such a sad day. Then Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. Then Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated. Three great men who were making such great strides in equality for all. I so looked up to all of them and still do. It was such a loss for us all.

It is wrong what they did to this man and his brother and family.
  • I was only 5 years old when he was assassinated. On that afternoon, my mother was doing her ironing while watching the soap opera "As The World Turns" when the news broke. I remember my mom crying in disbelief. One of the saddest days in American history. I'll never forget it.

Rob is right. I was 6 yrs old. When I got home from school (1st grade) my grandma was sitting in front of the TV in tears and it was about 3:30 PM when I found out. It was, in fact, a trauma for the people of our country. Just look at the turnout of people there to watch the motorcade just to get a brief glimpse of JFK. He was just so popular. Tragedy and grief just plowed through the US. It was terrible.

Congress ordered the unredacted release of all the files, decades ago. The fact that it hasn't been done, by either party, tells us pretty much all we need to know.
  • It was more than just a national trauma. Here in Canada I remember my mother crying uncontrollably, even though I was only 5 years old, when the news broke.

I was 8 at the time and vividly remember my Mom crying with me and watching the story unfold on our black and white TV. Some of our neighbors came over because they did not have a TV yet. That was 60 years ago and yesterday I was finally able to visit the plaza and see the book depository in person. Even on a cold Saturday afternoon after six decades, I was emotionally moved by all the people that were there paying their respects.

Shortly after the assassination a weapons instructor with many years of experience tried to get off the same number of rounds with the exact same bolt action rifle and not only did he have trouble shooting that quickly the accuracy was way off. No one ever believed that this was done by one man.

I’m Australian and while I wasn’t born until 1965…but it affected my parents. My dad was a policeman and I distinctly watching the zapruder film on our tv news when it was young. My Dads reaction was stunning.I’ve been fascinated ever since

Never made any sense, that Ruby, a bar owner would kill Oswald, who was already arrested, unless Ruby was ordered to to keep Oswald quiet.
  • @timgendron4211
The fact that they still won't release the files tells you enough.
  • @besame5504
I was 14 then. I am convinced his murder was the work of a group of people, it's so obvious.

I was on military duty in the Philippines. I was on a short vacation from work when it happened. Because of the time difference, he was shot in the middle of the night over there. I didn't learn about it for several hours. I mingled with the public on the street outside the hotel and almost everyone was crying and offering their personal condolences to me. Much hugging and brotherhood.
