WHO IS THE PRETENDER? | Very Little Nightmares Theory |

I have a feeling that the Butler’s shackles and the Craftsman’s twisted legs are cruel and unusual punishments from the Pretender after displeasing her, given how we see her punish the doll for falling out of its chair by breaking it.

Pretender is a word that i associate with people in line of succesion for a charge or title, like the possible future heirs of a crown

I definitely like the idea of the teacher as the mother, considering how both her and the pretender use dolls in some way. Plus the pretender's mannerisms are not dissimilar from the bullies. Which could explain a lot about how the teacher controls them in LN2.

I honestly forget about The Butler, really need to do a better job remembering VLN exists. But I was having a conversation with someone just the other day and asked them where else they though Nomes came from. The idea that The Butler is actually as strong as The Lady makes total sense, and they were saying that we could have other beings who suck the beauty out of kids, so here is my idea. The Pretender is trying to make believe that she is this super important and pretty young lady, and before having his arms locke behind his back The Butler would make sure there was no child on The Nest who was more pretty than The Pretender.

I believe the butler and the teacher are just supervisors for the Pretender's development. The butler's trousers are not exactly the same as those in the painting and even the tail of the jacket cannot be seen, while is more plausible that the man in the painting is the hanged man. Maybe the Pretender was a human child, but with the care of the supervisors she is starting to become "something else". Perhaps the hanged man did not fulfill his duty, or refused to do so at a certain point, being replaced by the butler. In the Nest it is plausible that future candidates will be selected to hold important positions such as the Lady, or even to become "food" for the Lady herself.

First I want to say is I'm glad you're back and thank you for sheding some light on to this game Now the theory: I personaly think that her parents are the hanging man and the teacher but they didn't met in the spiral but in the counties they have lost the pretender to the spiral frome some kind of trauma and the parents fell to the spiral becuse they traumatized a bunch of kids do to the loss of there doughter Now the pretender theory I think her powers aren't to turn people in to dolls or she yust kills them what if her powers are to teleport children to the maw and when they get teleported there naked they are give pj as an supstitute clothes so that's why evrey kid in the maw wheres pj or white dress

Me personally I think the pretenders dad is the thin man/ the handing man, why I think the thin man is the hanging man is because the chair under the handing man seems to be the chair that mono/the thin man sits on in the signal tower, and the clothes and body type of the thin man and the hanging man are very silmilar. Now, why I think the thin man is the pretenders dad, when we hear the pretender cry on the bench with the red scarf kid doll ripped the cries sound very signally and much like the thin man’s voice, and mono and the pretender are very similar in types of personalities, they are both very lonely and determined. They both seem to have an unfulfilled motive for a lack of feeling of life. In mono’s bio it states how everyone in this world hates him and wants him to fail, and the pretender is much like that too, it reminds me of her power of she can make anyone vanish just by touch. They both seem unable to make friends/keep them, all of monos friends, that we know of (six) have left him, or “vanished” just like the pretender. And the scenes of mono falling after six drops him and the pretender jumping off the cliff to catch the raincoat girl are very alike. anyways yea

I don't know why people speculate as to the Pretender's parents. Not only do the monsters in the Nowhere just kind of exist without much reason, but we've also no reason to assume that a character known as the Pretender would even have parents. A character who pretends to have friends by killing kids and turning them into dolls, who likely enslaved the Butler and crippled the Craftsman, and who gets upset when things don't go her way. Even before I heard from someone else the idea thay she was merely pretending to have a family by having a portrait made, the theories about her family just never made sense to me.

Im new to little nightmares, just played 1and 2 couple weeks ago, im a bit scary so i avoided these games but i was pleasantly frightened and surprised how much i liked them, when is 3 releasing? Im definitely going to play. I been looking up lore, im very fascinated with it.
