Organising Junk and Making Space

Finally making the effort to clear out the back half of the workshop which has been filled with junk this entire time.

I got the idea to build some overhead storage from Jay Bates' videos. There are 2 shelves that are just collecting dust so I moved what needed to be saved to the other side of the garage and stored them above the empty space on the other side of the garage and chucked the rest away.

  • Good Work! Got a bunch of new Ryobi tools huh? Mate, your Channel ist one of my favourite Woodworking channels on youtube, also compared to some Big players like Jay Bates and so on. And thats beacause you are building great things on low budget. And its very cool that you are still using your Homemade table saw. How does it hold up?

When you were cutting (splitting) the long boards in two, I noticed the blade tried to force the blade up. I had this happen to me and it flipped it all the way up and onto my forehead. Luckily I have a hard head (as I've been told so often- haha) and it only caused a deep cut. I now take the time to clamp a small hold down onto my fence for long pieces so that won't happen again and do more damage to my already ugly face or eyes. Just a thought. You know me. I'm not a safety troll. BTW, I might follow your example and build some high shelves like yours. Perhaps I will enclose it and put flip up or sliding doors to keep critters and dust out. Thanks for sharing.

What’s the size & kind of the screws you use? How many feet apart is the vertical 2x4?

Nice work! Like the lap joints. Up and out of the way or off the floor - haha. May I ask what the back top corner piece was for?
  • 棚の下に、木材の棚を作れば作業場も今以上に広くなる。要らない物は捨てる事。
  • I don’t know how you could even work in all that clutter to make and hang the shelves.
