Once your YouTube channel reaches 4000 hours of watch time and 1000 subscribers your qualify for the YouTube partner program or as lots of us know it as you can start earning advertising revenue

Which is fantastic and that's when the YouTube terms RPM and CPM probably start to come into your awareness as they relate to YouTube's advertising revenue and how much advertisers pay and how much you earn as well

So CPM is the cost per 1000 impressions advertisers pay to place theri advertisement within your video

and RPM is the revenue split YouTube pay you as a share. Now the revenue split is usually 55% for you and 45% for YouTube and over time this and grow into a tidy some for creators and even a fulltime living

So stick around as I explain this in more detail and give you a behind the scenes look at what my figures were for the month just gone.

Also, go to the comments and let me know what your YouTube RPM and CPM are as I've love to learn about other channels

  • I'd love to hear from you and if your channel has been monetised yet and how your RPM and CPM are tracking
  • I’m a new creator - it took me 7 months to reach 1k. I upload every other day. My current rpm is $4.00 - I’m hoping over time it increases. THANK YOU for the great content!
  • Watching from Australia trying to understand these terms RPM and CPM thanks for sharing. YouTube recommend your video while searching for these terms
  • Thank you very much! I’m on the verge of breaking my 1k mark so thank you for the future information!
  • hi there!-mine just says estimed revenue not your setimated revenue-why" also,i don't have an rpm column on this page, nor a playbakcbased cpm column, but i can se it under content-is there a reason for this mate-subbed!
  • Hi I started my YouTube channel 2 weeks back and it’s on stock market analysis. Do you have any idea what will be cpm and rpm for me once I get monetized. I expect to get monetized in 4-5 months.
  • @KiissKae
Hello, so the videos I had before I got ads said I was earning ..but, since I got ads will they still pay me for the videos from 90 day period .. or only after I’ve got approved for ads ?
  • Hello! Great video and well explained. I just got my channel monetized and for the first day the CPM is 13$, and the RPM is 0.08$. I am wondering why is that? Maybe it is because of the short period (1 day) from monetizing day?
  • Well explained, thanks. It's just my first day of monetization. My RPM is way too low compared to cpm. Hope it will increase in upcoming weeks.
  • Thanks so much for sharing, I honestly had no idea what they meant till i watched this video😅 I’m having trouble with my YouTube channel, I got demonetized because of reused content and applied for an appeal but it was rejected and I now have to wait till 2nd/oct/2022 for another chance to reapply. MY BURNING QUESTION IS… if I delete all my videos with copyright claims, will my revenue (which has not yet moved to my Adsense) still be accessed? I’m having a lot of fear that if I delete em, i might lose my watch time hours and my ad revenue. Please let me know if deleting these videos will give me a chance of being monetized again without losing by watch time hours and adRevenue. Thank you, looking forward to hear from you.
  • 0:06 Clarification, YouTube started running ads in my videos long before I had enough subs to get monetized. I'm assuming this is the case for everyone. I don't believe it was all of my videos, but it seemed like anything over a few hundred views would have before-video ads placed in them.
