WATCH: Rep. Donalds questions Secret Service director at hearing on attempted Trump assassination

Published 2024-07-22
Rep. Byron Donalds, D-Fla., questioned Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle in a House Oversight hearing Monday on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Donalds said he initially held off from joining other calls for the director to lose her job because he wanted to hear her answers in the hearing. But no longer.

“In my opinion, you do need to be fired. Immediately,” he said. “This is gross incompetence,” the Florida Democrat said, sharing others’ frustrations at the lack of satisfying answers from Cheatle.
