Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of Terry A. Davis, the creator of TempleOS. He was a very interesting and colorful person who was very popular in the tech community due to his uncontrollable outbursts on web forums and social media. Terry suffered from schizophrenia and was homeless for a time. I wanted to make this video as a tribute to Terry and to highlight the need for more funding and research into mental illness.

You forgot to mention he created a subset of C called HolyC. That and Terry's operating system made him an exceptional programmer. It's sad how mental illness ruined him and ultimately led him to his demise.
  • @SpellsOfTruth
He was by far the greatest programmer to ever live. His operating system is the ultimate learning tool for low level programming. Imo a 14 year old child given TempleOS to mess around in for a year or two would become better at programming than 30 year professional C programmers. Dont sleep on the king. Templeos is littered with thousands of brilliant programming gems. I dare you to do a deep dive into templeos.

We will never forget Terry he inspired a generation to find the truth and persevere. In the end the Glowies got to him and tied him down on the tracks.
  • @STOPSYPHER
Terry is probably the only person who can say he's the best programmer to exist, and not be wrong
  • The tech community mocked him all the time until he died, then he suddenly was the best man in the world. Why do ppl do that??
  • @burnzy3210
i miss terry, we will never get another person like him :'(
  • Be kind(er) towards developers, as well as towards other people. It takes so little to make someone's day better. Always be grateful for someone's time and effort.

I Missed Terry in his prime years on the tubes. I wish I had a chance to donate to him. RIP Dude, the b*stards in the CIA finally got their way.

Just over two years now. He was a strange man who never got the help he needed. He was a brilliant programmer, trapped in his own insane mind.
  • @davidconnelly
I'm pretty sure he's the only person on Earth who has created both a compiler and an operating system. He's a huge influence on me. His coding streams are pure gold.
  • @AutoFirePad
RIP King Terry. 3 years programming in God's supercomputer.
  • @89Awww
I can't believe it's already been three years since the bioluminescent sub-saharans from the central intelligence agency took him out with their train.

I felt bad for him. He needed help I don’t think he meant a lot of the stuff that came out of his mouth. He was a great programmer.
  • @pieQuestionMark
