How to secure your Synology DSM?

I thought of 5 fairly easy steps with step-by-step instructions you can follow and increase the security of your DSM.

1) Enable HTTPS 00:45
2) Change default ports 02:15
3) Enable and configure firewall 04:34
4) Get SSL certificate for your domain 08:42
5) Enable 2FA/MFA 20:39
6) Keep DSM and apps up to date 23:07

I was with you up to the point where you changed your certificate services. I'm still stuck with no SSL but the rest of the tips worked. Thanks

Great, easy to follow tutorial! Thanks for the assistance to a Synology newbie. Only critique I would add is please state when you are double clicking. I figured it out, but had to back up a few times to see what you did. That might aid novice computer users.

For the 4th step, getting a SSL certificate, I went another route. I have a dynamic IP internet connection, and I use dyn for ddns, where I assigned a hostname for my synology. Next I used a free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt. Works like a charm.

Great tutorial. My only issue is in order to get static IP I have to upgrade to a business account with my ISP. LIke others have suggested, I would just use a certificate from Let's Encrypt but I'm pretty sure that wasn't possible at the time of the recording of your video. That beings aid, good job in explaining as it helped me to understand how to secure my new NAS.

Great guide, thanks. I'd suggest Authy instead of Google Authenticator - it lets you backup/restore 2FA's so if you move phones you don't have the pain of setting things up again.
