This video shows the entire history of Russia, every year, with flags. The video starts with Novgorod in 862, and continues to the modern day.

Note: While Kievan Rus' is shown in the video, and the Kievan Rus' are not considered "Russian" in the modern sense, they are still shown due to their historical significance to Russia, and because of the fact that they are a predecessor state to the modern Russian nation.

Киевская русь это временной период, а не название государства, и трезуб не был флагом, а личным знаком князей которыми они помечали монеты и документы, гореисторики блин

The note under the video is quite contextual, the same as writing something like that to absolutely any European state. However, taking into account the fact that the Vladimir-Suzdal principality was ruled by direct Rurikovich, starting with those who landed in Ladoga and the foundation of “Rus” in Novgorod, Rus' can safely be called the predecessor of Russia. There are no contradictions or attempts to justify it. The term "Kievan Rus" is not the name of a state, but a term introduced into use in the 19th century. With this term, historians called the period of history in which Kyiv was nominally the “capital” of Rus', although capital is not a word applicable to Rus', so, rather, Kyiv was the largest city in terms of population in Rus' with developed trade. This is a period from approximately the 9th to 12th centuries. The term has 2 variants of origin, the first one was introduced into use by the historian Sergei Mikhailovich Solovyov in the publication “History of Russia since Ancient Times,” of which he is the author and the first three volumes of which were published in 1851-1853. The second version says that Mikhail Maksimovich introduced this term. Before this, in all sources our ancient state was simply called Rus.
