How to know: What should I do with my life? In this video I discuss 7 ways to find your life purpose. The seven tips are as follows:
1. Determine how hard you’re willing to work
2. Make a list of your values.
3. Think about your past - what went well and what didn't
4. What are your current interests?
5. What are your strengths?
6. How can you best contribute to the world?
7. What do you not like to do?

Step 1: Determine how hard you’re willing to work. Step 2: Make a list of your values (primary values at the top). Step 3: Think about your past (joy, excitement, fun, mistakes, unfavorable environments). Step 4: What are your interests? (What would you do to keep yourself busy all day?) Step 5: What are your strengths? (What things are you already good at?) Step 6: How can you best contribute to the world? Step 7: What do you not like to do? (What are your general dislikes?) Write it down and get feedback!

One of the best realistic videos on this topic. You should give a Ted talk. It'd probably be the talk of all Ted talks.

You know, I made a list and realized I am no longer doing things that made me happy in life. I loved being an artist, drawing and singing. You do not know how much you have changed my life. I love your channel. My family loves you!!! I know I comment on all of your videos but I cannot help it. You have done so much for me!! Thank you for this video. I plan on doing the things that make me happy this weekend. I am a workaholic and I love my job but this weekend is artistic April weekend!! My family will be happy knowing that you brought their April back. I even missed the old me. Thanks Dr. Marks.

I’ve been ruminating on this topic and am in a place where I don’t have much support and no network to bounce ideas around. I just stumbled on this video and it’s very helpful. Thank you!

"How can I best contribute to the world?" always gets my ticker ticking!
  • So helpful!!! Thank you!!! 💕 I recently turned 32 and I am on a path of discovering what my life’s purpose is. I taught 1st and 3rd grade for five years, and wanted to pivot to something else. I am now a nanny for two children, and I am discovering this is not it either. I am excited to journal all the questions you discussed in your video, as I know it will take me further on this journey.

As a 19-year-old collage boy, I find your videos really entertaining and enlightening. Although the process that you talk about in your videos doesn't fit every current situation in my life as a whole, you give me a starting point to stop and think about anyway. Thank you so much Dr. Marks! Keep inspiring :)

Really love your videos. Thank you. I specially love the length of them. I don’t have to wade through 10 or 15 minutes of filler talking. Digestible, actionable, healthy, helpful. Thank you
  • The feedback thing is a new one for me. Thank you for this video. This has actually given me more help than the last three career counselors I've spoken to.

Thanks for putting this information out and keeping it real.
  • I'm loving all your videos. Would you consider making a video about trauma bonding with a covert narcissist? How to move on from the discard and now hoovering phase. Thank you so much ♥️
  • What I like more is the topics and your simplicity, and your ability with all certainty, what I hate more the music behind.
