NOTICE: This cartoon has a lot of flashes, so turn your brightness down if you're sensitive to that sort of thing

Like the Bowser Castle cartoon I did last year, this one was inspired by an amazing rendition of a video game tune. The Megaman series is one of my favorite franchises and this takes place in my favorite level, featuring my favorite robot master. I worked really hard on this one and it's probably the most ambitious short I've released. Hope ya'll enjoy! And Happy belated Halloween! (I was a Team Skull Grunt, check my tumblr for pics.)

EDIT 1 MILLION views, thank you all so much!

Megaman is owned by Capcom

  • Because I'm an enormous Mega Man fan, MM4 being my favorite NES title and Dust Man my favorite robot master, I was completely blown away by this. The atmosphere is spine-chillingly real, and I like the colors you used and how they match those of the actual stage. Keep doing what you do, you're amazing at it.
  • To us, it's just a junkyard level with a vacuum cleaner as a boss. To Mega Man and all other robots, it's a graveyard of unburied corpses, some still alive, ruled by a cannibalistic machine.
  • @Aussie_Kirby
To quote Cubot from Sonic Colors: "When you consider what we're doin' from a robot's point of view, it's actually pretty gruesome."

“Courage isn’t a lack of fear...It’s the ability to do what’s right despite your fears.”
  • This is how Dust man was always meant to be. Not as a doofy sentient vacuum cleaner, but as a cold robot cannibal.
  • Never realized how terrifying a place a junkyard would be for a robot. At least in cemeteries, the bodies are buried, not heaped on top of each other in grotesque piles.

Who knew that a robot who was built for cleaning trash and getting rid of it could be this terrifying.

2:16 At first, I thought the most chilling thing about this was the fact that Megaman was looking at a torn-off head. Then I looked to the left. These robots were made by Dr. Light, same as Rock. He is killing his brothers.

wow, this sure has that young Andrew Dickman vibe back when he did his megaman animations during the early 2000s. really nice! (I know, the wishdom of the algorithm brought up this video years ago only now)

@ 3:01 "Try to remember your fight is with ME. Not them... They just get to watch.... Soon you will join them....."
  • This is exactly how I imagined Dustman's stage was "meant" to feel, the melancholy the music and visuals tried to capture and communicate to the player.
  • @kattozilla2277
You have to remember, Mega Man has the mindset of that of a 10 year old. That's basically if a 10 year old walked into a place with body parts scattered around. BLOOD EVERYWHERE
  • Frightening. Rock, only being a child, seeing all those corpses of his race, was indeed very frightening.
  • @AntiBunnyStudio
When I was a kid I thought of Dust Man's stage as being pretty creepy. For a robot a junkyard must be a truly hellish place. This video did such an amazing job of expressing that.
  • @Twister980
I can see Light watching Rock struggle here with tears in his eyes. "Dammit Albert! Is this what it's come to!? Sending CHILDREN to fight each other for your damn selfish ambitions?!"
  • @sonicrulez6916
I really like the themes of this animation. It feels like Megaman is questioning his own reason as to why he's doing it, and then just telling himself "It's for them." It literally feels like Dust Man exist to, almost essentially TAUNT Megaman, to try and see how far he can take him before he cracks. On a side-note, your animation reminds me of the Brawl in the Family webcomic.

This animation makes you feel sympathy for Dustman if not the entire Cossack numbers. They were never intended to be fighting robots to combat Megaman, they all had thier own purposes to help people. But of course Wily kidnapped Kalinka and forced the good doctors hand to make his robots fight for her life, While Dustman lacks readable facial features the way he closes his eyes to mourn his fallen brothers before combating Rock is like he is saying. "This may be futile.. but brothers. I will avenge you." the fact he mourns Skullman too in spite of if you believe the implications he was made by Cossack because Wily forced him in order to boost his ego, shows that he is still cared for by the rest of the numbers. It's pretty sad honestly that this level of connection within the set of Robot Masters besides the DLN's 0-8 was never explored a bit more.
