We knew this storm was coming. Why didn't you prepare? I live in Hudson and prepared for a foot plus of rain. Measured today and it was 7 inches. When a storm is coming make your property ready. Get your pets ready and move out if you are coastal. This woman did not prepare and now she must deal with the consequences. Sorry.

The county released water into the spillway without warning, flooding the surrounding area. It’s never happened in that location before from natural disasters. These people were blindsided.

You don’t ever want to go up against water. It’s a force not to be messed with

That sucks and I'm sad for you but this is florida these are the risks.

fix sound at the end. WOW no warning about letting water out of lake. Things like this needs to be disclosed when buying a home It wrong to spend so much and not know the risks! 100,000 plus to fix. She is a smart women!
  • This is peak hurricaine season in florida.😂 Was a week at least you were being warned. My entire yard is flooded and looks like im on a houseboat. But we have everything we need prepared before any hurricane hits. Cut your trees away from anything they can bash against and buy a nice generator and a gas powered water pump. Lay plastic with sand bags on them in any entry and ride it out. How you live here in florida and arnt prepared is beyond me.

If you live near a lake or around a lake when it's a tropical storm prepare to have flood water. She wasn't prepared. This is Florida we have significant rain during the rainy season and tropical storms which can and sometimes cause flooding.

There was plenty of warning about the storm and potential flooding a State of Emergency was issued for almost all counties in the state. Lady you live in Florida and I am sure you have seen what has happened during past storms. Hell it can flood with a good thunderstorm that dumps enough rain.

I’m in GA, housesitting from Indiana for a month. Even I knew there was bad weather coming two weeks before it arrived! No warning? Try a nice Indiana tornado warning… a matter of minutes to save your kids. Sheesh.

I'm in north central FL and I had a weeks notice or more because I was watching the NOAA site to check on Debby. I checked that my FEMA flood policy and homeowners policy were in waterproof case, pet leashes, water, food, medications. Saturday I slowly secured anything outside that could be blown away. I have CHF and trust me, it's a slow process but you do the best you can in any situation. We got close to a foot of rain and some wind but overall, fared well compared to some areas. I feel sorry for this family and all folks who were flooded or otherwise harmed by Debby but --- Did she consider getting a FEMA policy? FEMA policies are cheaper than trying to go out of pocker for flood damage repairs. Did she not listen to any news for the week prior? Did she have no idea a storm was coming? Did she just move to Florida and into that home the day before Debby came through?
  • How can you have no flood insurance. I lived 3 miles away from her house and flood insurance is required there
  • @Mike-ew9zn
Put in more roads and parking lots! 🙄

This was man made floods. Open the dams. Save the dam …. Some must pay the price. All will pay the increase premiums. RIP
  • Ah, you live in a State that has large swaths of it destroyed every year or two by Hurricanes that should have been your warning? And just an fyi there are several more queued up in hurricane alley heading your way as we speak. I wouldn't start on repairs till late November if I was you.
