How Much Can We Get DONE | Homesteader's Day In the Life

Published 2022-02-25
I have a lot of things to get done today, and I'm taking you guys along with me to keep me company ♥ I still have a 5-gallon bucket of carrots our in the garage refrigerator that I picked last fall that need to be processed. I have a box of frozen tomatoes from last season, along with a bunch of zucchini that we need to process as well. And there's a big batch of leaf lard from our batch of pigs we need to render down as well. Oh and while we're at it, let's make some zucchini bread as well. How does chocolate chocolate chip sound to you? ♥ you guys - Rachel

  • I love that your so honest we always have a load of neglected veggies that we sort in winter! Madness in summer! I get to the point that if I see another tomato I’ll scream! Lol now I am craving them so bad!!

I love your videos, Rachel. Please, please write a cookbook and/or a book on how you process and canning recipes. I'm begging you!

Tying a ribbon around your towel on the stove bar……GENIUS!!!!!!! Wow! So simple and pretty and functional. Thank you for the tip even though it wasn’t “officially” shared. 💜

That Amish Water Bath Canner is a BEAST!!! I never have seen one, I love it. Amazing Job today, you're a ROCKSTAR for sure, so nice to have Hubby sharing the load, Take Care and Love each other!

Please post the recipe for pineapple/zucchini bread. Sounds great 👍
  • You really need to publish a cookbook of all your amazing recipes

Rachael, remember the carrot rehydrated will NEED to be cooked before you feed it to the baby. Raw carrot will give them super gassy tummy. Just a helpful reminder 😊

I understand you may not see this, but my Mother dehydrated much of the vegetables that we grew. She would grind many of them. (making them into power) She Had an amazing way to use the vegi powder. She would mix the different veggie powders and add a bit of salt or a bit of pepper and dust it on everything. She would also put it in every meatloaf, ball, soup, stew, and salad we ate. She dusted it on peas before she dried them, that was a yummy snack. My Mom was good at not waisting things. I love her for it.

I cook with carrot powder all the time...it's a staple in my kitchen .I make a brown rice and carrot casserole that's cheesey and beautifully colored. My hubby won't eat cooked carrots but he will eat them after they are powdered. Great in eggs ,soup, you will come up with so many uses you will wonder how you did without them.
  • @GeorgiasGarden
I love zucchini spirals instead of pasta. I make it just like noodles. I flash freeze in little nests then put them in ziplock bags.
  • You've accomplished so much in a day! Love how relaxed you are in the kitchen, not fussing about every detail, ready to experiment:)))
  • @karenm7433
Maybe next time a vegetable soup base with your carrots, Zucchini and tomatoes?
  • @chrisb5391
