This feels like a story, a story of a noob that wanted to be loved by his father. As the normal noob has light colors, probably representing his purity and kindness of how he was treated with love. And mostly by his smile. On the other side, we have the alt noob. He's tall, has dark colors and probably has a smile to hold all his pain and need of help. Simply because he was different of others which lead him to be depressed.
