  • One of the record stores that I frequent came up with a great idea. In addition to the sticker on the outer plastic sleeve, they use a form of "grease pencil" and write the price of the record on the deadwax of the vinyl. It very easily wipes off without a trace- no smudge, smear, nothing. The person at the register can take the record out and compare the price on the deadwax with the outer sleeve price. If it's a different price or been wiped off, then they check their inventory pricing. Works like a charm.
  • Being in the U.K. in my twilight years , waiting on gods bus, I’m unlikely to visit any of the stores named outside of YouTube videos, but I found this video extremely enjoyable. Thank you

Congratulations, Mazzy and Doctor Robert. This is the best rant-a-thon in ages! 🍸✌ Cheers.
  • The last time I mixed scotch and goo-gone I woke up with a 100-piece Dyna-flex collection.

I retired to the Phoenix area in 2012 from San Francisco leaving behind Amoeba, Rasputin, Tower, and Revolver. Then, to my great surprise I discovered The In Groove in Phoenix. The store has moved and grown, but remains friendly, helpful, fun, and provides a great selection. Shipping (a lot during COVID) is timely and always packed extremely well.

Great video, Mr. Maslov! - I've been vinyl shopping for over 45 years & also worked in record stores for around a decade before moving into the distribution side of things >>> started my own record label, etc., etc. In my, behind-the-counter, record store days - 3 different stores - the store policy, re; used/new vinyl sleeve price stickers was... we placed the price sticker on the outer plastic sleeve which were easily removable, but we used a very blunt pencil and wrote the price and the filing number on the inside of the LP/12"/7" sleeve, *extremely lightly*, so no damage or indentation was done to the sleeve at all & also, to make sure no customer tried to tamper with the price, etc.. The pencilled-in price & filing # were extremely easy to erase... when a customer bought a record, one of our staff would use a simple eraser and remove the inside-sleeve price/file number >>then easily remove the outer price sticker >>> so we could give the customer their purchse and a free protective pvc outer sleeve. For outer CD cases, we used non-removable price stickers... but when a customer bought a CD, we swapped the stickered CD jewel-case and re-housed the CD in a brand new CD case, again... for free. (We recycled all our old outer plastic-sleeves and CD cases). Simple task for our staff which made for a happy, satisfied customer w/ their purchase - completely unspoiled, i.e., as it originally arrived at our store from the distributor/orig. seller *A 100% win/win for everyone, and, so, so easy for the store staff to do.* I've been a music collector for over 45 years and your topic is so important for all of us record store customers/collectors, & so infuriating when you find a title you really have been after for the longest of time and some bozo-headed, lazy half-wit has put a non-removable sticker on an expensive vinyl picture sleeve.... or worse; used an ink-ballpoint or a sharpie to write on the inside sleeve... There's absolutely no excuse for this pig-ignorant practice. I mean, would an antique store do this on any of their items??? All the very best to you & all the other commenters - G. in Japan!
  • It Became Rock n Bowl in The late 80'S. Now you guys are making me homesick. Your Rant is truly meaningful. Thanks.

  • Great show!!!! And it needed to be said and I’m hoping every record venue/store sees this vid.
  • That was fun, for you guys and fun here laughing with you!! 🥃
  • @ChilledPint
You guys are the best … Felix and Oscar of the VC
  • We use a low adhesive sticker that is easy to peel off, leaves no residue, and peels off clean with ease! Higher priced records we treat even better.
  • Classic. Please do more rants with Dr. Robert and/or Coffee Dave. Excellent.
  • @michaelryley
I think just about every record I’ve bought new for some time has been shrink wrapped or in a cellophane bag with never a price tag touching it. I have a couple from prob 20 years ago that have the sticker on the sleeve but I kinda like seeing that I got White Blood Cells at Rough Trade for 8.99 when it came out… but yeh for second hand it’s a ball ache. I just tell myself it’s about the music not the sleeve, along the line of Jello Biafra’s comment that he collects songs, not physical objects. Love that you’re doing videos about this. And cocktails too! Big fan in London here.
  • Sadly here in North Devon in the UK we have only a few record shops but they are great.... By the way great video keep it up. I also love a good rant especially over record condition & prices...The title of you channel should be "Old Guy's Record Rant" Oh Great harmonies as well
