Do you think his son will be upset when he sees this video? (What he gave us, given the incomplete is worth $3000. When he came back in the next week with the completed parts, as mentioned in this video, we gave him another $1000.)
  • @chrisaustin663
He said he didn't want it 5 years ago and still hasn't changed his mind. It's an amazing collection from our POV but some people do move on from vintage toys.

This collection is definitely worth about 4k to maybe 5k, I feel like they shouldā€™ve offered a bit more. I know there were some parts missing but they were in great condition. And you know the shop probably had a lot of the missing parts. That dad had no clue what he had. If his son, who owned the toys came in he wouldā€™ve definitely got a better offer

Pretty shocked at the the number of people who donā€™t understand the difference between the market value of an item to an end-purchaser (ie a collector) vs the value a reseller will pay to save you the hassle of finding the market (eBay, conventions, swaps, Facebook etc) and still sell it profitably after overhead.

I love this old guy and his passion for, if not the toys, just that he's been holdin on to these bits of plastic so long he wanted them to go to a good home.
  • @Franco1395
That kid was lucky to have that many Star Wars stuff in the late 70ā€™s early 80ā€™s. I would have been envious.
  • @digglah1
While items may change from country to country, that AT-AT alone is worth around $500 here. The Tiger Fly gets around $200+,. The Heli Fighter is around $400. The Megazord (in box) around $400, Pretenders in box around $250, The megatron for around $600 (Possiby more as this is like new and in box). That's not even a quarter of the stuff! I understand that you need to make a profit as you are obviously going to re-sell this stuff but that is some serious low balling there.
  • @truckermatt4603
Thatā€™s low key kinda sad that he said ā€œif Iā€™ve seen him 12 times in 25 years itā€™s a lotā€ you can tell he loves his son he keeps mentioning him
  • @bamafrede6239
This is why I love your channel and storeā€¦ man came in with ZERO idea what he had and yall were so upfront and honest about what he had and what it was worth
  • @ShaneAddinall
$1500 sounds a little light for what appears to be loads of quality toys. Any clarity on why?
  • @BatFan1
I know TF has to do their thing, I mean, in my head I thought maybe around 4-5K for the whole lot, so they were going to offer him half that. Had the MASK figures been complete with helmets the value on those would have been greater, but without really seeing everything in detail can't know for sure how complete everything was. The SW lot alone I thought would be valued at around 1K total. Not to mention the clean G1 Megatron, no stickers applied and still on the sheet will likely sell for around 1K as well. If the gentleman ever came back with more of the accessories to complete what he already brought in I think that would bump up the overall value of the haul to a more favorable offer.

An auction guy did exactly the same thing to my mother. Ripped her off as didn't have a clue
  • @S_0_R_R_Y
The guys wearing green and blue seem sketchy
  • @palexanderrice
Damn this father loved his son. Kept everything in damn near pristine condition
  • @plazma2891
Im 40 its a shame i think once my generation is gone i don't think toy collecting will be what it is now anymore
  • @Dmhlcmb
Sorry, but I donā€™t believe him. The toys are all collector grade and perfectly preserved. Heā€™s a collector and heā€™s ashamed to admit it.
  • @redmist78
The best part of waking up (on a Saturday).... is toy federation in your cup!
  • @Internalexxodus
everyone saying he was robbed is crazy. he sold all of this in one day with little effort at all. is it worth more than he got yeah. if he wanted to find private buyers for every piece and do the leg work he would have gotten more. the store doesnt stay in business without turning a profit. and it might take months or years to sell certain items. i think it was fair. that customer would have sold that stuff for 500 and every employee knew that. they gave him 2500 total thats not a great deal but fair.

ā€œI donā€™t know what this stuffs worthā€ like blood in the water to a bunch of sharks
