A comparison between Original Leon from Resident Evil 4 (2005) and Remake Leon (or REon as I call him) from Resident Evil 4 Remake (2023). In the remake Leon's characters was turned a few notched toward the realism as the eventsx of Racoon City were traumatic for him, and he barely resembles the Old school Leon who was an iconic action hero with sharp one-liners.

New Leon is genuinely sick of everyone's sh*t and just wants to go home and eat some tacos or something, OG Leon is loving every minute of the adventure

I swear that OG Leon just knows he's the main character and is just enjoying it

I see why ashley was so afraid at Leon at first sight, it's because Krauser kidnapped her, she thought it was just another type of Krauser coming to get her again.

I'll never forgive CAPCOM for cutting "no thanks bro" from the remake

The voice actors of the remakes sure made a fantastic job, but Capcom's 2000 game's voice acting is just LEGENDARY.

No matter how "cheesy" or "corny" OG Leon's dialogue got, Paul Mercier delivered those lines with so much conviction and confidence, they're widely beloved and considered iconic to this day.

My favorite part about OG Leon is the first time he meets Saddler, he starts talking to him like he's been his arch nemesis for years. He's so perfect in that role, he turns the whole game into something magical.

New Leon: Motivational Speaker OG Leon: I AM THE MOTIVATION
  • Leon remake: you don't need me, you're too good for me 😥 Leon original: hehe, sorry, I'm too cool for you
  • What I like about the original "I got gum" line from the original is that it was a subtle call back as well as some character growth from original resident evil 2 where leon started with the lighter in his inventory. The reason he had it (according to the manual) is that he's a smoker. Gum is sometimes used as a substitute for cigarettes for smokers trying to kick the habit. So him only having gum was a subtle way of informing the player that leon stopped smoking as well as being a fun and cheesy line.
  • There’s something about Paul Mercer’s cadence as Leon. When he quips, he has this patronizing tone. Lines like “your right hand comes off?” are said in a sarcastic, yet almost serious tone, as if he’s making himself out to be stupid, yet he’s just mocking them by giving them a response they aren’t used to. It isn’t fear, anger, but a comical retort.
