Irish premier Simon Harris has said that Ireland won’t “provide a loophole for anybody else’s migration challenges”.

He was speaking after UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said claims that the UK’s Rwanda plan is causing an increase in migration to Ireland shows its deterrent effect is working.

The Irish Government has said there has been a shift in migration patterns into Ireland in recent months and that the number of migrants crossing from Northern Ireland was now “higher than 80%”.

Legislation is to be introduced next week in response to an Irish High Court ruling that Ireland’s designation of the UK as a “safe third country” for returning asylum seekers, in the context of the Rwanda plan, is contrary to EU law.

Hilarious, yet when the UK want to send them back to France everyone gets in a huff

Gimmegrants , leaving one safe EU Country , to another EU Country , via the UK........ if Ireland can return them to the UK , then the UK should be able to return them to France .
  • The riots were NOT sparked by false rumours. An Algerian man cut the throat of a five year old girl and stabbed two other children and a classroom assistant. It’s outrageous for you to dismiss that.

If they are coming from France then they are not truely in need are they.

Britain is under no obligation to take these people back they entered Britain illegally from the EU, and now they have returned to the EU. Ireland, you only have France 🇫🇷 to blame for your problem by allowing these people to cross the channel in the first instance.
  • The riots un Dublin were NOT sparked by false rumours . A three year old girl was stabbed by a legal, nationalised immigrant from Algeria who has lived in Ireland on benefits for ten years. The child is still in rehabilitation following life changing injuries.

Perhaps Ireland could return them directly to France.

“False rumours about asylum seekers” is a funny way of saying that an illegal migrant stabbed a child
  • @stevep9934
Just stop them from crossing the channel in the first place.

Why are countries like Japan able to have such a beautiful society with zero crime? Because they just don’t allow criminals in. Look at the state of England today? You barely even hear our language when you walk down the road. It’s bloody disgusting

Ireland recently ruled in court that Britain was not a safe country, so I think they will not be able to send them here under human rights law!
  • Exactly the correct action to take by the UK. No returns from Ireland unless the French accept returns from illegal migrants from there. Quid pro quo. Ireland is in the EU. The EU should take responsibility. Britain is not in the EU.
  • @-GS-
Well you cant argue with the logic. If Ireland can send them back to Britian then why cant Britian send them back to france? If you allow one then you have to allow the other

Way to late. They're just picking up the dirt of varadkar legacy. And the riots were caused by a migrant stabbing children. You didn't say that 😡
