  • helpful tip is to apply your fairing mix with a say a 3-4mm small notched spreader like a tiler would use. This gets the compound on fast and uniform in thicknes. You then go back over it with the smooth steel trowl to flatten it out. If there is high spots, when you hit it with the smooth trowel, it will naturally scrape it off the highs and pull the compound into the lows. Some just leave it troweled with the notched spreader, leave it to cure. Then long board it, then come back with a second mix and fill any notches that weren't removed in the sanding stage. The rule at the boat builders i work for is " if you spread it on you sand it off" 🤣 one gets pretty good at applying it when you have to sand it all too
  • Looking so awesome! Great to have the help too mate 👍

Hey Bud, greetings from Malaysia. Love youre videos. You gave good explanation, it's simple and easy to understand. I've been dreaming to build my own boat for fishing and family time spending. I've been looking for hull structure design and boat ideas. To own a perfect boat for my needs here cost me a life savings. Why not build my own right ?. But thanks for sharing, it's helpful. Can't wait to see you're next video.

Can you use a power sander like they use on plaster board with the vac ?

Sanding sucks , ive just managed to get the side and bottom starboard side on my 15 footer bashed out in 2 weeks fully painted by hand 2 coats epoxy primer + 3 coats of two pack polyurethane rolled and tipped , every coat apart from the last one was sanded by hand no machines or more wasted time on spot priming . The q cell is a godsend for sanding my transom is pretty good so dont think ill need to sand now onto the topside at least this is stand up work not gymnastics training great video go like a bat outa hell smash it and primer on good luck .
