  • What a striking building! I love the way the sun travels across the different parts of the roof and cladding - very cool!

    nice looking building, congrats Calgary

Awesome how far this has come. It started 2 years later than the strip mall/car wash in my community and looks like it will be completed first.
  • sad to see the old Corral go. I remember as a kid watching Ed Whalen and Stu Hart with Stampede Wrestling and watching a young John Davidson and the Calgary Centennials, and Calgary Cowboys. Good ole days!

Going to be back there in 2025 for the Calgary Comic Book Expo. And I cannot wait to go in and see this brand new place for not only to meet some actors, but to see how big this place is. I am looking forward to it for sure ^^

Fun fact: This was the same budget as Roger arena Edmonton, plus calgary is building a 1.22 billion dollar arena event center close to it, including everything around it

Fun fact, every construction worker on that site had to pay for parking for their time working on that site.

I remember going to the Corral for Stampede Wrestling with the parents and relatives when Gene Kiniski, Killer Kowalski and the Hart family were still around! OMG am I ever OLD if I remember that! It was literally a RIOT happening at the Corral a few times with Stampede Wrestling and those wild Roller Derby events! It's weird to see the Corral go down in the way it did! In the end it was a tired building meant for an earlier and more brutal time. I didn't exactly have FOND memories of that because wrestling or roller derby wasn't my thing but for the Corral itself I definitely liked to watch amateur and pro hockey inside of it and those were quite pleasant memories for me in my early youth! I definitely like the NEW building much better! So much more modern-looking and very functional. I am curious to see what they will do with the Saddledome! V
  • Looks like they used every left over piece of cladding from every job from the last ten years to do the final cladding of the building.

they should have built the new NHL Arena on this site. Then tear down the old Saddledome and replace it with the "new BMO Centre.... but that would have made good sense for Calgary. Very archaic old fashioned construction techniques used in this build....everything was assebled on site - no completed panels lifted into place = massive waste of money.
