BME AI-Studio: Get started with the BME688 Gas Sensor and Machine Learning

Published 2023-01-25
The BME688 is the first gas sensor with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and integrated high-linearity and high-accuracy pressure, humidity and temperature sensors. It is housed in a robust yet compact 3.0 x 3.0 x 0.9 mm³ package and especially developed for mobile & connected applications where size and low power consumption are critical requirements. The gas sensor can detect Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) and other gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the part per billion (ppb) range.

The BME AI-Studio tool enables customers to train the BME688 gas scanner on their specific application, like in home appliances, IoT products or Smart Home.

Very cool indeed and I stumbled upon this via an Adafruit BME688 board that I have primarily to "collect" environmental data while hiking (a marginally useless real world application!!). At first I laughed at the association of a gas sensor and AI. After watching the videos am very impressed. The coffee tutorial almost makes a great teaching moment for people and neural nets. Well done!!

Hello everyone. I'm starting to develop an iot sensor node with BME688. I have 2 questions. 1. During the detection phase of Bme688, is it logical for the hole side to face up or down? So, is it recommended that the hole part of the sensor be above, below, or on the sides of the knot? 2. Using the Bme688 sensor, I want to make an IoT node with IP67 or at least IP65 protection. How can I get this protection for Bme688 without dulling its sensor features? Is there a made example of this or a special cover for this job?

Hi. When I press the connect button at 05:03 seconds, I get the error "Error: There seems to be a problem with the .config file on the SD card" and I cannot connect to the board. What could be the problem?
  • I can not find AI Studio mobile app in my iPhone. Where can I find it?
  • Goody Day, Where i can buy this BME 688 sensor? I will use it for Arduino projects. Thank you
  • Hello, I want to send my prediction result to another card (Lora-e5 for example) no to the app mobile, can I do this?
  • Can I use BME688 with raspberry pi? Do you provide any kind of technical support?
