Mega Pinsir being the terrifying bug it looks has one of the most adorable pokedex entries [After Mega Evolution, it becomes able to fly. Perhaps because it's so happy, it rarely touches the ground]

With how you described some megas as being like an accelerated Darwinian evolution, it made me think of the ultimate aliens from ben 10 ultimate alien. The ulimatrix took the alien dna already in it and simulated millions of years of war to evolve the aliens into a peak form based around combat.

I always took Mega Mewtwo as creating its own stones. It saw something that "natural" Pokémon could do that it couldn't. Out of envy it collected Mega Stones from other Pokémon and merged them. If humans could do it, Mewtwo could do it himself.
  • 6:20 Mawile actually do eat with their secondary jaws. There's a Pokedex entry that states that, since the jaws don't have any tastebuds, Mawile will use them to eat food they don't like the taste of. I guess they must close the jaws around the food, dissolve it and then absorb the nutrients, sort of like a Venus Fly-Trap.
  • Well……: the bit with Lysander and his Gyarados isn’t actually that unusual. In Pokemon Masters, the main thing there is sync stones which allows the bonds of people and Pokemon reach incredible levels. But one of the biggest indicator that a bond doesn’t just mean they love their trainer. In one of the stories, Giovanni was able to bond and become a sync pair with MewTwo who was going on a rampage. And the only reason they ended up bonding is because they have similar goals. Ruling the world. Thinking the world is pitiful and their arrogance makes them think they are fit to rule. They bonded through evil means. Which is why I don’t think it’s unusual for Mega Gyarados and Lysander to have bonded. Cause their goals are the same, to burn the world down.

I read somewhere that they started making the pokedex entries for mega pokemon "painful" in the USUM games to make the goodbye to Megas easier because there was no mention of pain (as far as I am aware) in X & Y and ORAS

Charzaird x being made by artificial means makes sense based on how unfamiliar it looks. Also love the animation. Love to see a video about the ultra beast or Pokémon regions from previous gens.

Something I always liked was how mega pinsir’s Pokédex didn’t have any grotesque details about it and just said it was very happy to be able to fly
  • I think one of the Pokedex writers was trying to quietly protest or make a statement about the either the ravenous fans or the pushy higherups. There's no real reason to surmise that Pokemon are truly suffering paradoxically from a bonding power. The designs themselves don't evoke pain or stress from transforming. Its an interesting addition though. I think a revisit to Unova and a return of N in the timeline with Mega Evolutions would be fascinating. That might be a great way to expand on the ideas and conflicts presented in Black/2 and White/2. N believing these Pokedex entries but seeing trainers who are so tightly bonded with their Pokemon achieving these and having to either find out the entries are false or exaggerated or that Pokemon Mega Evolved by love aren't in the pain that a forced evolution is.

I think Charizard X having the shiny colors (minus the red being blue instead) helps showcase the artificial nature, as the stone forces an otherwise rare genetic trait onto the Charizard in an attempt to make it more intimidating.
  • @CleanChimp08
I'm pretty sure mega pinsir's pokédex entry says that it's so happy now because it can fly and it rarely touches the ground

Big fan of these 3d models and animations! Very impressive. This whole video was great. Thank you!

Mega Lopunny is probably supposed to be a gym bunny/cardio bunny.
  • @gust20xx32
I love the fact that Mega Mawile has two mouth-like horns and Huge Power as its ability -- an ability that doubles its physical Attack stat. One for each horn. Also, there's that joke that "if the cockroach starts flying, nobody is brave enough to remain near it". Pinsir is a beetle, not a cockroach, but it does get the flying type and gets "menacing" through it.

I think that cases like Lysander with his mega or Cyrus with his Crobat somewhat make sense. As one of Professor Elm's assistants said: When a Pokémon is raised by someone evil, it ends up becoming evil too. So the Pokémon probably sees the world the same as its trainer and empathizes with him. Like a Pokémon version of Stockholm syndrome.

I believe all about uncontrol, pain, agony and all the negative effects of mega evolution on pokemon that are written in the pokedex are the effects when they first do it for some pokemon.. and the bond and love between trainer and pokemon is needed to eliminate or reduce all of that, to the point that they can use the form well even though they only use it in critical situations and not for a long time. that's why in the anime they don't use it carelessly.. We know that Mega Evolution is their strongest form, and in many Japanese anime franchises and the like, when they want to use their strongest power or skill, negative effects will definitely follow. However, they practice hard to master it for the sake of the people they care about. Take for example Naruto with his Rasengan Shuriken, it is a painful and damaging skill that can even paralyze his hands making him prohibited from using the skill, but in order to protect the people around him he finally found a way to use it well.
  • @naetrus
Mega Slowbro its Ultra Moon's dex entry says "It's pretty comfortable in there, too."
  • @GNackers53
My theory about Mega Aggron is that the mega evolution it's undergone causes it's core temperature to rise drastically, causing it to experience great pain as the phenomenon purifies the metals that make up it's carapace. The Filter ability is the result of its inner pain being so intense that it shows little to no response to outside stimuli.
