  • The original design of the Čezeta (Czezeta) is unique amongst scooters. It was produced in 1957 - 1963. In the very first year of production, it attracted customers in 20 countries around the world. It is unusually long for a two-wheeled vehicle at 2 metres (6 ft 7 in) and has a distinctive torpedo-shaped body with full-length running boards and a long seat that lifted to reveal a substantial luggage compartment, using space that in most scooters is occupied by the fuel tank. This made the Čezeta ideal for 2 people and popular with young Czechs. This scooter was powered by the 175 cc ČZ two-stroke single-cylinder motorcycle engine, giving a top speed of 85 kph (55 mph), dry weight 130 kg and fuel economy of 3.2 litres of gas/100 km. – In New Zealand a local company, JNZ Manufacturing Ltd produced 4,000 these scooters during the early 1960s.

  • I'm really impressed by people that can restore old things, whether it's vehicles, toys, tools, appliances, furniture or houses. That takes real talent, skill and perseverance.

I’m glad that man and that scooter found each other.

I had one of these in New Zealand, where it was called the Nzeta. Extremely reliable, always started first kick. A bit gutless, but it did the job. Great machine.
  • I give the restoration a 7 out of 10 stars. Much respect for even taking that project on however! The rusted areas should really have been cut out and replaced with fresh pieces of metal. The engine "rebuild" was really just new clutch discs, a gasket package, a deep cleaning, and then a reassembly. Should have replaced the large mono-shock and the two front fork shocks. Good thing the body was painted white and light blue because black or dark colors would have shown all the remaining dings and dents. Glad you sprung for new tires, new upholstery with fresh padding, and especially for the new wiring harness! New side marker lenses should have been used. The remaining dress-up rubber pieces, and the shiny bits and pieces were a nice touch to top it off. Too bad the blue seat doesn't match the blue painted body areas. But overall, it was a big job on a small scooter. Much respect...
