What a gentleman; talent, skill, modesty, and a great story-teller. The world needs one million more Peter Brocks. Thanks for the mention of Ken Miles.

My wife owned one of the Superformance Coupes, chassis 52. Beautiful car. She sold it after two years as it was not really her thing but one day we received a call and it was Peter Brock. He was asking all of the owners how they like the car. I thought the call would end when I informed him that we no longer owned the car. I was wrong. He spent an hour on the phone talking cars and motor sports history. He would probably not remember. I will never forget. True gentleman and an icon in automotive history!

Watched this 20 times and everytime his humility and appreciation brings tears to my eyes as well.He should not under estimate his contribution.

A true legend always gives credit " emotionally" to the legends before him!

First hand legend telling. Thank you for sharing.

Great story. I couldn't imagine being that 22yr old kid working with so many other great people. We need more of that type of collaboration in the world.

This guy is a class act all around. Couple people I know have been around him for various things, people have nothing but absolute praise for him. Legend!
  • @964cuplove
I love it how the really good guys ALWAYS mention the other co-workers / give credit to other people and their ideas....
  • @Mick_A_Knuckle
Wow, I've never heard Pete Brock speak before. What a great story teller, and what a story!

I got Mr. Brocks back here: The names of the gents who were the pioneers of streamlined design are in the order he mentioned them 1) the famous Austrian (not German!) Erwin Kommenda, who designed the VW Bug, the Porsche 356, the Porsche 550 Spyder as well as the early concepts for the 911 shortly before his death; 2) Reinhard von König-Fachsenfeld and 3) Wunibald Kamm, the latter two were from the Stuttgart area and were responsible for designing some of the sleekest automobile designs known to the thirties (Mercedes SSK and Auto Union Type C. How great a man he must be to so matter-of-factly give credit to the pioneers of early streamlining and then to top it off with that emotional shout-out to the gent who gave him his shot at car design immortality! Great story, Mr. Brock! Stay happy and healthy!

Amazing gentleman with great respect for legends in the field who trained him and you can really feel how he cherished that time and memories.

One of my favorite stories; Peter Brock as the young kid full of ideas but without the experience to convince everyone in the shop to follow him off the cliff, being allowed his skeleton crew a few months to develop a new body for a proven competitive design and blowing apart conventional thinking with less than a shoestring budget. It made me a bit sad to hear Ken Miles’ name, his death was a huge blow not just to the Cobra/GT40 program but to Shelby, Brock, Remington and all else who knew and worked with him for the rest of their lives. Ken was a special talent for sure.

Only my second time listening to this man and it's like chatting with a close friend . That is lost true honest stories not imbelished. He's not boasting or bragging . He's a regular guy who did what he did . I like to go back and just watch them work. Priceless. I'd like to get in those libraries too !

I read many articles by Peter Brock in Road & Track over the years, and found him to be very astute. I like him even better after reading this interview. Very touching.
  • @ADSheehan
I loved the movie, but I wish it would've been a half an hour longer to include this guy and the Daytona. What a story.
  • @tracylemme1375
This was the “Golden Age” of racing. The teams were allowed to be innovative and original. The only thing that was bad was the amount of talented drivers that were lost.
  • @ronmccann7552
What a phenomenal man and team. Thank you for letting the rest of us in on this telling history.
