For Whom the Bell Tolls into Fade to Black into Trapped Under Ice, what an arrangement.

  • Fun Fact: James Hetfield wrote Fade To Black after his favorite amp was stolen. Must have had some serious sentimental value.

You missed a good opportunity to have Ryan Gosling in A Place Beyond the Pines where he wears a Ride the Lightning shirt for like 90% of his scenes.

Yes! That indeed is the dance people do when they're Trapped Under Ice! šŸ•ŗ šŸ’ƒ šŸ§Š

Itā€™s the same playing it. Fade to Black just brings your whole mood down and hypes you up at the end, beautifully written.

ride the lightning is metallica's best album change my mind
  • Thanks now I know what dance to do listening to trapped under ice and for whom the bell tolls

Listening to Fade to Black and saying ā€œit is what it isā€ just hits different

And then something unexpected happens. Escape starts playing and you suddenly remember that there is in fact a song between Trapped Under Ice and Creeping Death

In my opinion Ride the Lightning album is the best it is both very original and ā€˜earlyā€™ in their career and also all songs are written really well

then the baby walks in on the heavy intro of For Whom The Bell Tolls and starts bopping to the beat.

I find I like each of their 4 early albums equally but listen to each one depending on what mood Iā€™m in. Kill em all when Iā€™m wanting to feel energized Justice when Iā€™m pissed off and stressed out helps me like therapy Ride the lightening when Iā€™m down and depressed to lift my spirits Master of puppets when Iā€™m feeling more stable but feel like thrashing tf out

Same reaction for me the first time listening to fade to black

I always liked how the first several albums seemed to follow very similar song structures; track 1 is a super-fast opener with a calm intro, track 2 is the title track at a fast speed and with an epic solo in the middle, track 3 is a slow and heavy track, track 4 is a slow melodic ballad that becomes more and more intense, and track 5 is a super-fast track from start to finish.
  • I think if someone started doing that dance at a Metallica concert in the 80's they would've been severely beaten
