cg standup is a thing now.
  • @andyzzone
Plot twist this whole presentation is all done in Blender

Ian hubert: A man who doesn’t make textures for objects, but rather objects for textures.
  • "I was able to put this whole thing together in a deceptive free time unit, which is the area between when I think I should go to bed and decided I should poke one more thing and I actually go to bed 3 hours later, and that`s when I get most of the work done in my life." This is so true

This guy made Blender into stand up art comedy mixed with professionalism. His mindset is what's driving many people into wanting to learn the software, myself included. Thanks Ian Hubert

"if you keep things messy enough you don't need to put up a lot of tracking markers because they're just built in" Pure excellence
  • Ian Hubert is the example of "The more you understand something thoroughly, the easier for you to explain it to others." When we watch his lazy tutorial, it's almost like we understand it and immediately want to try make it ourselves too. That's a good teacher.
  • I want a T-shirt "Moths add realism to anything" with the space ship :)
  • @Daemon8fx
I was doubting the authenticity and realism of this talk until i saw the Moths.
  • @Jaspev
"Don't get to the point you think it's done yet" kinda blew my mind for some reason.
  • @BathroomTile
This talk is 80% quick visual gags involving the slides, but the director's like "No, forget about all the context for what he's talking about, I want to focus on his face talking"

This guy is redefining the way we think about CG. It's absolutely great.
  • I want this man’s energy in my life. Like I feel more alive and animated myself (no pun intended) after watching this video.

The way this video was directed (edited live to tape) is a classic example of over-using your multiple camera angles. So often, they're only showing the medium shot of Ian Hubert even though there's something super cool happening on the screen. As a result, we don't get to see it. The ideal shot is the split-screen where we see Ian on the right side, and the feed from his screen on the left. If the director had just put that shot up and done literally nothing else, this video would be better. Just because you have a lot of camera angles, just because you can do live switching, doesn't mean you should. The director seemed to feel the need to justify their own existence by constantly calling for unnecessary cuts. Learn from their mistakes.

The guy who redefined tutorials 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Quick and dirty is the best way. The Images as Planes feature is amazing for quick world building. I spent so much time trying to model buildings for a linear level that most players wouldn't even notice. It's just so much more effective.

I wish Corridor Digital will invite him for their next video.
