Honestly, the moments where Madara instantly ran to the girl who had fainted and when he yelled at Hashirama over the name thing are so painful. He was that genuinely good person once, he fully believed in Hashirama as a friend and their dream as legitimate, and yet he was manipulated into trying to destroy it. The Uchiha were victims of Zetsu's plotting for literal centuries.

Damn Tobirama really went and mastered water style jutsu purely because it was the current meta against the Uchiha. Then when he felt that wasn't enough he made the flying rajin the new meta. Tobirama is just built different.

Tobirama is the most influential person in the Narutoverse for good and bad. Everyone stole all his jutsu, made legends with his moves, and then is the reason why Madara became so evil. Madara hated Tobirama because they are 2 sides of the same coin. Literally the same character. He knew that what Tobirama was doing was correct, but he was just on the receiving end of it. Tobirama was a true genius.
