I was living in West Germany in 1978, employed by the US Government. I never heard this on American Forces Network (AFN) Radio. I heard it today, 6 April 2024, and I love it!!

Plot Twist: Rasputin never died, he just removed ras from his name

This actually tells the story of Rasputin, his rise and fall the terrible legacy he left behind. Whatever else you can say about him, he did have some strange ability not only to make the little tsarevitch stop bleeding, but he also made several predictions that came true. He warned the Tsar not to go to war in 1914, and before his death he predicted that if he were to be assassinated, the dynasty wouldn't last long afterwards. He was murdered in December 1916, and the Romanovs were overthrown the following March.

This song helped me out with studying Rasputin this year for a puppet show in school. We had to present a puppet of a historical Russian person, and I got him. I just listened to this song and studied the lyrics, and I got an A for that.

I heard it when I was a child. It reminds me of the time when I was in a huge car and surrounded by all of my family members. They (my parents ) used to play the original version so loud in the car. We had a whole boney m album playing during a long road trip.
