2 Trains Passing As Seen From Above! These trains are passing on the Norfolk Southern Railroad main line between Chattanooga and Cincinnati. Look how cool they look from above! A huge mixed freight train that "emptied the yard" meets a steel roll train while I was at the perfect spot. We also see a railroad crossing on a steep grade in Walton, Kentucky on the same NS line. The trains passing are at Crittenden, Kentucky. Railroad maintenance was going on just north of here where private contractors were working with NS crews to replace private driveway crossings around MP 25 on the NS Rathole Line. Every train that came through had to get permission to pass the area over the radio so it was easy to know when a train was approaching. There are also several defect detectors in the area and all communications were on `160.950. I heard both trains on the radio so I figured I could get a cool video from the bridge just south of the construction zone. That worked out pretty well so I went to Wendy's after that and a little while later heard another train asking for permission to pass going southbound. I always wanted to film at that railroad crossing in Walton, Kentucky because it is on a steep grade with curves at both ends. There is a graveyard right next to the crossing so I checked out some of the 1800s head stones while waiting for the train. The crossing is at about the MP 21 area just south of a defect detector at MP 20. I could also pick up a DD at MP 14 from this location.     My cat used to eat grass too. Sweet little kitty. Mine was black too. He had been abused when he came to us. Him and I had a very strong bond. I probably spoiled him, but he received more love from me than wherever he lived before. Still miss my baby

    Gigantic! This is the appropriate qualifier for this very long freight train pulled by three locomotives. I counted a total of 167 cars, of which 149 carry containers, which makes 298 containers. Truly an impressive convoy!

    There are multiple reason's why railfanning from above is cool, but our favorite is the face full of diesel fumes you get!! My grandson and I both agree there should be a women's perfume called "Ode de Diesel"!! Love at 1st smell! Another great catch JT!
