  • Why did he unhook?
He kept sliding back and trying to go up the hill and after several attempts, the trailer started goin into the ditch so now he could not back up, and could not back around the corner, and could not make it up the hill. He hoped to disconnect and reconnect on a better angle. Yes he used his pull away brake and wheel chocks. It overrode both.

Secondly on how much it cost?
Nothing we did not charge him a penny and didn’t accept a tip

Why?? Because our sponsors just like on x

    And

    Viewers like you

Cover all the costs needed so we are able to help guys like this without charging them in a crappy situation

So if you don’t like a mini commercial just skip it

It’s one way we able to do it for FREE

    THANK YOU FOR WATCHING
  • That's a genuine hillbilly parade right there. A tractor, a jeep, a pickem up truck and a home on wheels. Everything a hillbilly needs in life besides a case of duct tape.
  • I don’t own a truck, I don’t own a fifth wheel, hell I don’t even own off roading equipment. But shit this was possibly the coolest video I’ve seen in 2024. Awesome you guys were there to help at zero cost a dude probably just trying to create memories with his family. Unintentionally got himself into quite the bind and had people like you to help get him out. God Bless yall!
  • The WHY he unhooked his truck is mind-boggling but irrelevant at this time. What an absolute fantastic video, the use of ingenuity, teamwork and just overall ton of a "we can" mentality is awesome. Great work gentleman, I'm glad it all worked out. From an almost full-time RV'er I will offer this, in nearly 99.9% of the time DISCONNECTING your trailer from your tow vehicle is not a good idea. This holds true to ALL 5ers, Goosenecks and bumper pulls. Best piece of advice, from experience; stop, re-evaluate the totality of the situation and seek assistance better sooner than later. Great video and I am a new sub.

You are an amazing Recovery Man. I enjoy watching you think these difficult problems out, and I had 100% faith in your success.

One hell of a job. Good going.
I had an issue with my first 5th wheel trailer that I tried to tow up a steep dirt road. I had a F350 2-wheel drive, and lost traction in the middle of a second hill. Being new I was going to try to back down a little way, but the trailer was not going the way I wanted. I was stuck and straight up scared. My wife was following me in my little ranger truck, so I had her get the dogs into the little truck. I couldn't get out because I had to keep my foot on the brake. Putting it in park, and it was still trying to roll back, so the brake helped hold it in place. Did I mention the couple hundred feet drop off, and being scared? I had her go get help, and she went to the farmers house at the bottom of the road. Mr. Billingsley came to my rescue. He got in front of me with his old green ex forest service Dodge pickup and hooked up a rope. Big rope. His truck helped me up that hill, and boy I was relieved. After we disconnected, he wanted to make sure I could make it up the last hill which was a few miles away, which that one was no problem. He said most people he has had to help usually were intoxicated and was glad I wasn't. (me too, but I dont drink and drive). We didnt have a lot of cash, but I did give him 80.00 dollars which he refused, but I told him to take his wife out on us. That was over 20 years ago, and we still go by his farm all the time. Most I have pulled up that hill since was an in-bed camper, and with our F450 4-wheel drive I can pull a car trailer with a jeep loaded on it, but never again will I pull our new 5th wheel up that hill. Just yesterday I joked to the wife that I was going to take our little toy hauler down the hill, she just no you are not. Going that was saves over 40 miles to get to our lot, but I have learned my lesson that its noy always better to go on a short cut.
  • @TheJanitor48
Glad to see that you are blessed to do this at no ones expense but your own
  • scary how big and heavy these campers are compared to the tow vehicle. and even scarier how weak that hitch is. i think tow limits have been pushed too far on trucks. seems campers this big need a small semi tractor.
  • Great work. I would have hated to be in that situation. Being an owner of. Fifth wheel camper, you are correct in saying everything is flimsy. I am surprised the spring hangers held….
  • It's amazing how a split second decision can basically destroy a $100K camper. His frame is all discombobulated, entire thing is caddy wompus. Main thing is all ya'll are safe because that was a very dangerous situation to be in for everybody involved.
  • @Dominator70
Education is expensive no matter how you get it. Always use chalk blocks and separate your brakeway cable when hooking or unhooking on hills. Great job salvaging guys!
  • @johnhobbs2689
Never had a doubt Matt. I knew you could get it done. I'm glad to see ya'll back in action. Look forward to more videos.
  • Man, that was so good of you to try and help that guy out!!!! He was in a bad way. You came through!!
  • Man that was a BADAZZ recovery Matt!! I have labeled you the mastermind with snatchblocks & let’s not forget scotchblocks‼️‼️‼️ Precisely saying you are the master of all Towing!! 👍🏻👍🏻
  • @markd1299
thx! Great video! You showed that wrecker company up, don't know people have to be like that. I didn't'[ realize till you got it out that it was as long as a football field. Great work!
  • @KB-gs8zi
Hey Matt & ALL Helpers !!! Great recovery as always !!!! Thanks for the videos & this will be a great introduction to your channel for sure in that area !!! Ga. & FL. can't compete with this !!! 🤔🙄🤠😎👍👍👍👍👍
  • He had no business pulling a rig that size with anything less than a dually. We have a trailer the same size, if not bigger.

It blows my mind how many people severely over estimate their trucks and underestimate their trailers.

I hope this is a lesson to everyone who tows.

Great job, guys, on your recovery!!
