    He was protecting her. But I was wondering her mother didn’t want Callie to follow Egon’s life of a scientist, just like Star Trek 2 when Carol Marcus didn’t want her son Jason to follow Jame Kirk’s footsteps in Starfleet. So Egon decided to follow and watch Callie instead.
