There are over 1,000 Pokemon currently in existence, but there are even more "lost" Pokemon beyond that. Over the years, rumors and speculation have resulted in supposed Pokemon that many believed were going to be the real thing, only for them to be just the opposite. These are the stories of 7 LOST Pokemon who never became the real thing!

Another Pokemon that could be considered unreleased is a potential regional form of Corphish/Crawdaunt, since their Dex entries state they came from a faraway, unnamed region. Kinda hoping it gets that in Kitakami, but that feels unlikely.

Hoops! There is a Magikarp-like pokemon scraped from SV that was replaced with Toedscool & Toedscruel. This is known because their internal names are different in the code and lineup for convergent Magikarp instead of convergent Tentacool like we got.

I feel like the galarian Klink would have been really good since their rock music based and black metal is a genre that could have matched to the steel dark type.

The Magnemite in her hair are literally alive tho, it basically is a regional variant we just don’t have access to. Magnemite line did already get preferential treatment with a new evolution awhile back, and then Sandy Shocks this gen.
  • They can easily make a regional form for Rockruff, where they keep the Midday and Midnight forms the same, but kill Dusk Lycanroc in favor of Dawn Lycanroc because of geographical difference (Like for example an Australian region is on the Southern Hemishpere, while the other games are on the Northern, so they can make it make sense lore wise as well).

We shouldn't forget Pokemon isn't an English game originally and things can be mistranslated or misinterpreted. The "Dusk" Form, for example, only exist in English. In the original Japanese it's the "Twilight" Form, so basically both dusk and dawn together. Hence, the "Dawn" Form already exists :) Anyways, I'm looking forward to the SV DLC!
  • Even if it's just a coincidence, the Magikarp statue from Legends Arceus could be hinting at the convergent Magikarp that was cut from Scarlet and Violet. Maybe they'll bring it back in the DLC?
  • I like to think Pokémon pay their respects to Pokémon who never made it into the games by putting them as statues, art, etc. Like the Eevee-like statue with wings and the Pokémon shown in the burning tower. It might just be Pokémon we never got to see

11:20 Funfact: there's a leak that has been confirmed, while looking into the game files, there's couple of vacant placeholders, with name files implied to a paldean form of magikarp/gyarados

Galarian Dustox needs a come back its so cool
  • "Magnemite is one of the few Kanto Pokemon who hasn't received a special form of any kind." Magnezone: "Am I a joke to you?"
  • Really a shame about Hoothoot and Dustox, cause they REALLY could've used the boost

The Snover "variant" is an amusing idea, and the fan art nice. Though realistically a snowcone would fit Vanillite and its line more. Make it Ice/Fairy probably, yeah. But hey, I'd be okay with a Snover variant too. A Magikarp variant of any sort feels so obvious, but it's probably because they'd have to either make a corresponding Gyarados variant(not arguing that either), or a brand new evolution that would have to fit the same drastic change theme as it going to Gyarados. Game Freak probably just doesn't want to deal with that cause it's one of those pokemon that people would likely take special umbrage with if not done just right. But it'd still be fun, like the rumored giant Magikarp from Gen 6 I think. Or maybe they just figure it's better to use any ideas on crafting new fish pokemon cause they like doing that as well.
  • You know, now that I think about it, the branding in Sword and Shield was excellent, and great to see. I'm glad it continued into Scarlet and Violet.
  • My thoughts for some of these ads and clothing is that maybe the brand they represent doesn't originate from the regions of the games but a different one and they just are sold and represented in various regions across the Pokemon World.

Moral of the story: if the game is teasing a new form or mon, it probably isn't.
