It has been two years since President Marcos Jr won the Philippines' Presidential race, and tensions are high in the South China Sea. Each day brings new confrontations between Chinese and Filipino vessels in the disputed waters.

In a departure from his predecessor, President Duterte’s stance, President Marcos Jr has had a tumultuous relationship with China. From cancelling BRI projects to brinkmanship in the South China Sea, relations between Manila and Beijing have deteriorated. At the same time, the Philippines draws closer to the US, potentially changing the complexion of US-China rivalry in the Indo-Pacific.

As each side assert their claims, are we one miscalculation away from armed conflict?

China wants respect but that's one thing they can not give.
  • @jlb1397

  • @dn6127
Why is the guy saying that the Philippines illegally grounded a ship but fail to mention china building on the islands?
  • @MayPag-Asa866
Stop the lies China!! 🇨🇳 Accept your defeat!! Follow the rule of law (Arbitral Ruling 2016). The West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) belongs to the Philippines 🇵🇭
  • Mr. President Bongbong Marcos Jr is doing very well to protect and defend our own maritime rights in West Philippine Sea. He is really knowledgeable about geopolitics. That's why he's exposing the China aggression in South China Sea. We are not afraid to protect our motherland. 🙏💗🌍🇵🇭

Tangen view is quiet biased. Filipinos aren't proxies nor puppet.
  • @zen_libron
This should be a non-issue if everyone only recognizes and accepts the UN ruling upholding UNCLOS.
  • @dencio2964
Every coastal country big or small has rights to its surrounding waters and this thing called Exclusive economic zone..9 dash line is elligal...
  • History shown that some reckless political leaders / head of a state caused horrible destruction death to his own people and the other country. Is it Marcos is going to do the same to Philippines??
  • @nobrainer513
Filipino always have a smile on their face even while reporting being attacked by hostile countries, this just show that the Philippine morale are high.
  • The West Philippine Sea is a legitimate name used by the Philippines to refer to its exclusive economic zone in the South China Sea. The nine-dash line, which China uses to support its claims, is not recognized by any country and has no legal basis. The CCP has a history of distorting facts and using disinformation to achieve its goals, but the South China Sea arbitration case remains a legitimate and important ruling.
  • @RomParani
Filipinos what PBBM and the armed forces are doing is for our country national security. To protect and defend our Philippines sovereign territories.
  • its ironic that a Marcos is carrying on the struggle that an Aquino started.. Atin ang West Philippine Sea 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
  • @mamarose24
As Filipinos, we only seek one thing: PEACE. Yes, we have always wanted peace, and throughout our history, we have never initiated an attack or hurt any big country. However, the CCP and Xi continue to push us to the brink. Long live to the defenders of small countries! ❤ Please save us from that expansionist greedy big Country.

If I were a Filipino, I would want President Marcos to improve the living standard of the country through trade and cooperation with China and other neighbouring countries. Marcos should know that the US is using the Philippines as a chip in its anti-China plot and not for the love and interest of the Philippines! Moreover, the Ukraine war has clearly exposed US insincerity in helping Zelensky, as the US has not sent a single soldier to fight for Ukraine! Would the US do the same to the Philippines? What the US does is to sell arms to Marcos for profit and encourage the Filipinos to fight and get killed! Finally, can the Philippines even with the weapons from the US win a war against the Chinese PLA, the best army in the world,? Wake up, Marcos!
