    Actually the city government is emotional too. Their actions are driven by fear, hatred and power hunger.

  • the giver is my favorite book of all time and the movie doesnt begin to do it justice

    So… was there still humanity outside? The house had electricity running after all and seemed in good shape. Was that memory from someone who had also left- an ordinary person not a giver or what not.

    so, the way to break the whole system is by passing through a barrier? why couldn't the old Giver do that? feels rather far-fetched, including the instant recognition everybody has about their true self, feelings and emotions. could that father truly have instantly acknowledged the situation? i would have expected everybody to fall to the floor holding their heads while trying to adapt to the newly aquired emotions. as such, the ending is rather lacking for me.

    When i was a kid, i read the giver at least 10x. That book made me love reading
