When you’re in the first stages of building an online business, it can be frustrating to figure out how to find clients. This video outlines four creative, proven ways to land your first paying customers.

1. Identify potential clients and contact them. Don’t wait for clients to come to you. Find specific people who can benefit from your services, give them advice, demonstrate your credibility, offer free help for a limited time, and ask for a testimonial once you’ve successfully delivered value.

Testimonials are crucial for building an online business. Ask your satisfied clients for specific, before-and-after details and for the situational impact of working with you. Leverage testimonials by using them as case studies.

2. Take your best job skill and turn it into your business. Once you’ve determined what you’re good at and what you have to offer, research the market and get to know your target audience. Find out what your ideal client wants, then craft an engaging offer based on what you learn.

Wondering how to find clients you don’t even know about yet? Get referrals. Ask your current clients to introduce you to other people you can help.

3. Connect with an entire audience. In the online world, there are gatekeepers with an established following – podcast hosts, Facebook group administrators, publishers, and website owners. Find your audience, show up where they are, engage with them, and demonstrate your expertise.

4. Use your personal network to get clients. Plenty of people already know you and what you can do. Share your intentions, highlight your skills, and ask for referrals and introductions.

This is how to find clients as you’re building an online business: Reach out to your audience and make meaningful connections.

Go find clients - don’t wait for clients to come to you. Be clear in your ask - define outcomes and expectations. Explicitly ask for referrals. Lead with free value connection. Ask for a carefully crafted testimonial & share it everywhere as a case study. Leverage the gatekeeper - blend in. Be politely persistent. Luisa, your insights are incredible, thank you 😊

Wow, you pack a WILD amount of value into each of your videos! You've made a subscriber out of me ❤️
  • Great creative tips to get clients. It's doesn't have to be hard. My first client came from donating a 1-hour call to a charity that my friend was running / a cause that was really important to me. We did the free 1-hour call, she loved it, then sure enough she booked with me for a longer term relationship. She was an amazing client and a $4,600 deal. The more creative that you can get with this, the easier that it can be :)
  • With the 1st creative strategy example, IMO I don't believe anybody should work for free (not including free coaching calls, strategy sessions, mini courses, etc). Instead, I rather create a beta version of my paid offer to build trust, get them to know my working style, and deliver the results to my client. Then, I will invite him or her to continue working with me in the fullest capacity. However, very valuable video. Thanks for sharing!

I loved strategy number 2. My company is for anyone really but I think the niche I should focus on is single moms. That's what I was when I started myself and it helped me alot to just be there for my kids work whenever I want around their schedules... Now I offer this to others but think it would help the single moms the most. I need to find places where I can explain how I can help them and get 20 mins of their time... Lord this was golden 🙏🏽. Why I didn't think of that.... That 3rd strategy is something I've thought of but haven't found the proper fb group. I'ma work on both. Loved this . Thanks alot ❤️
