I just want to say something: I had poor eyesight when I was younger but I tried to ignore it because I didn't want glasses or contacts. I did my research and started eating more healthy foods such as red meat and tons of fruits. And my eyesight did improve to the point where I saw very clearly. I had really bad malnutrition so my eyes weren't working like they should have been, so when I started eating all these nutrients they returned to normal. I'm pretty sure it works for some people if they're still young and suffer from the same problem

If you have a blender, make a smoothie. Recipe: Two cups organic baby spinach, half an orange, 5 chunks pineapple or mango. Chop up some fresh ginger to add. One cup of orange juice or water. Blend till smooth and drink. You can also use blueberries or strawberries. Strawberries are good for the lungs too. Make sure if you eat eggs, get the pasture raised eggs. The yolks are a beautiful orange color full of more vitamins and minerals. The commercial eggs come from chickens in cages or crammed together in pens. They are fed soy and corn diet, also injected with stuff. Pasture raised are roaming free eating of the grass and bugs. I get the organic Vital Farms pasture raised eggs from Whole Foods. You can also make a nice vegetable soup with organic carrots, onions, garlic and mushrooms. I use organic baby Bella and Shiitake which is good for lowering blood pressure. Also get some organic bone broth like Pacific unsalted chicken bone broth. Sauté veggies in extra virgin olive oil in large soup pot or Dutch oven. Add bone broth and bring to a rolling boil, then turn down flame and simmer with lid on for 30 minutes. Add peas towards the end or spinach or kale. Forgot about canned Salmon and Tuna good for eyes with Omega 3 fatty acids. Also canned sardines which have good source of iodine. Get the Wild Planet salmon and sardines. All there canned fish is wild caught. Don’t forget avocados, good source of vitamins E, A, C, b7, b5, b12. 58 milligrams of magnesium, and more potassium than a banana. Not to mention biotin’s. Mash it up with sea salt, chopped up garlic and fresh lime juice. I spread mine on a toasted whole wheat club roll. You can put slices of eggs or lettuce.

What about blueberries? I have been told that wild blueberries, especially, are very good for your eyes.

Thank you for this. I have macular degeneration, as did my mother. Fortunately, I love most of the foods you recommended.

I used to eat tons of carrots as a kid, voluntarily - loved them and growing up, my mother used to say I would always have great eyesight. Grew up on sardines, leafy greens, too. Mediterranean diet, basically. Fast forward to now - 60 year old with thinning retinas. A retina break was found last week and I have high Myopia, too. This sucks. No one else in family has this. What the heck happened. Non smoker, too. Is there Anything we can do at this stage to preserve what is left??

Dear Dr. Wong, Helping your own three kids with effective myopia prevention, is the most powerful scientific statement you could ever make. We all learn from you! Thank you!

eggs 🥚 🥚, carrots 🥕, any type of orange foods, including oranges themselves, mangos, and yes fresh vegetables and fruits, leafy greens, etc....

Hi Rupa! I just found your channel today. I'm a fellow physician (internist), YouTuber, and mom as well! Love your videos and content. Congrats on your success! I actually grew up in Oahu! Now I'm in southern California.

You make me want to keep my eyes healthy Dr. Wong ♥️ thank you for the valuable information.

Moringa has 10 times as much vitamin A as carrots. Even though it's a green plant (tree). Aronia is also a lot higher in it's antioxidant effect than orange. It has a substance called OPC which boosts vitamin C (which it also has) by a factor of 10. Aronia is a lot more potent than orange in it's antioxidant effects.

The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. Thanks doctor

This was very good. She got to the point almost immediately!!!!!

She gave good advice on nutrition, but she left out one huge fact that the world is never given by doctors. The body has a number one enemy that is the main source of numerous health issues, and that is processed sugar. When you eliminate all processed sugar from your diet, you will begin to reap the health benefits beginning with weight loss. And if you remain steadfast in this plan, your eyes will begin to work better as well, as long as you haven't gone too far in your sugar consumption, and caused permanent irreversible damage. Stop drinking all soda. Stop eating sugar filled desserts, candy bars, and anything that contains sugar. This the best medical advice a doctor can give you, and many of them are trained to NOT tell you this.

I have myopic degeneration. I’ve started to introduce these food into my diet. I’m hoping that science will have treatment for this illness soon.

I get lots of sunlight for my intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglial cell health. Took me two days to learn that one! Hope you are impressed.....Just passed my drivers eye test at 68 yrs old, the first time since my twenties. I ate terrible then and was night vision challenged. Not now. Thanks for the good info.kiwis are great source of C and don't forget the bilberry.

Great information! I ate more veggies as a kid. Grew up and diet suffered. I have AMD that slowly progressed to flashes. Recently started green smoothies and added sardines and more sweet potato. almost immediately the flashes stopped! If I skip 2 days, they return. Drs keep saying things are ok, but this has been a slow progression over 10 years. If Drs had recommended supplements or diet, I would have followed their advice!

The best food item for a healthy eye vision is Cod liver fish oil. It's rich in Vitamin A, D, Omega 3 and so on. Carrots are also very good for your eyesight, rich in vitamin A. Apple is also good overall health giving fruit.👍👍👍👍👍👍.
