This week I'm talking to 72-year-old Renee Landers who became a bodybuilder at the age of 69!
She shares her incredible fitness transformation, from someone who had mobility problems in her fifties to now being in the best shape of her life in her 70s.
‪@Reneefitat70‬ reveals the diet and gym training regimen that keeps her strong and competitive in later life - and how she plucked up the courage to pose in a bikini at her first competition.
Now a social media star, she has an inspirational message to all of us over the age of 50 that it's never too late to get fit and build muscle.

Lol, I'm 80 in a couple of months and lifting weights at the gym. Progressing to some pretty heavy weights and eating carnivore. Lost quite a bit of weight and still losing. Health issues are starting to go away. My son is my trainer and we work out together. Started 3 months ago and loving it.
  • I'm 53 and just started trying to build muscle and get fit. It's been hard getting motivated but I watch stuff like this and I get reinvigorated

I’m 57 and used to compete in fitness in my late 20’s and early 30’s. After healing from stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and watching my three kids become successful wonderful people plus feeling the empty nest this inspires me to possibly go into it again! Thank you for your awesome story and inspiration!!

I'm 78 and still working out at the gym and daily Yoga and Qui Gong practice.

Wow ! This has been so inspirational for me at 55 ! Thanks so much for having her speak on your channel !
  • I’m 58 and have had so many false starts to getting in shape. Renee is quite the inspiration!
  • I'm right there with Renee! I'm 67 and I've mostly worked out and I eat very healthy. I don't talk old speak! I don't even think about my age because I feel the same as I did in my 40's. I don't receive age related jargon. Most people are shocked when I tell them my age, and I like it that way. I don't want to give in to the number associated with my birth date! I will continue like this as long as I can! Here's to health and vitality!

"Your physical appearance is just byproduct of what you're doing for your health " 👌👍👋👋👋
  • Way to go! I am a trainer and we have older people and it’s a blessing to see them progress.❤

I'll be 69 in Sept...where has the time gone. I still train and eat bodybuilding style. I started back at 67 and in 3 years I have transformed my body. Best of all I feel great! and I don't have trouble with clothes. Maybe a little tight in the arms, LOL. YOU LOOK GREAT CONGRATS!
  • This is probably the best interview I've ever heard. All the right questions were asked and she answered all the questions in an open manner.

Joan MacDonald is another 70-something gal that made a drastic change late in life and is such an inspiration too. These ladies are doing the Lord's work!
  • Thank you so much for this timely video!! I am 72 years old and have gotten very weak from a couple of bouts with Covid. I have terrible joint pain and had resolved to start on Monday (cause all health resolutions start on Monday) to cut sugar and bread from my diet and to get back to the gym. I will be bingeing Renee's channel for every bit of info and inspiration I can get. I need to lose 7-8 lbs but more than that, I need to gain strength. I will be going to Egypt in a couple of months and need strength to walk, climb in the pyramids and ride a camel! I have to keep reminding myself, "I'm not done yet!"
  • I’m 61 and I joined a gym a month ago in the hope that I could get my 20 year old body back after spending my entire life putting everyone in my family and my job first. This wonderful lady gives me the inspiration I need to achieve my goals.
  • @JennWatson
I'm discovering the joy of exercise at age 64 and I'll never stop! Thank you- she's a fantastic role model! ❤

Omg I am her, except younger! I had neck fusion in 2015 at the age of 40. Just had surgery again 36 weeks ago for lumbar at age 49. 16 weeks post op, I started lifting and walking/biking again, no running for me either. What an inspirational warrior she is! I can’t imagine starting 20 years from now with previous injuries on top of menopause.

What an inspiration! I’m 45. I started going to the gym in my late 30s, and fell in love with being active. At the age of 40, I had a better physique than I had when I was overweight in my teens. Tonnes of energy. Then around the age of 43, I noticed that what I was doing fitness and food wise wasn’t working anymore which was discouraging. Then, I came across the age talk and witness women my age give up on fitness and start eating unhealthy because they don’t see the point since they are in perimenopause. But then one day I snapped out of it when I discovered women in their 50s and older looking amazing and showing what’s possible. I’m so glad! It took me ages to test what works best for me. It took lots of adjustments and changes. It was worth it. I feel amazing. Whoever reads this, please don’t give up on yourself, and if you want to start training with weights I cannot recommend Caroline Girvan’s trainings highly enough on YouTube for free or on her app. Good luck! :)

A problem is that, as a society, we have established norms for age, gender, vocation, etc. Because of these norms, people act according to them - rather than according to their ability. We choose to slow down as we age because we think we should and then experience symptoms of that slowing down but we call it aging and just accept it. Our bodies are miraculous - they respond quickly to how we treat them. Give your body good food, exercise, positive thoughts, enriching activities and your body will give you good health and an active life into VERY old age.

Thank you! I am almost 58 and just had back surgery and I am healing and I’m set to go back to school and begin weight training! My sons and I have been through a lot and the youngest one has just start his fitness journey and healing journey with me and going to finally going to go get his GED and then go to college and make a life for himself after he had completely given up. We talk everyday and it is a miracle! I pray my other son joins our winds of change! Thank you for this inspiration!!!🏆❤️💪🏽💋

Thank you for interviewing her! I love her! She’s so sweet, intelligent, knowledgeable. She’s not crazy extreme in her views- just reasonable, sound information. I may need her support! She’s such an inspiration!
