And the homeowners didnt out the appraiser how is that going to help me avoid that person?
  • My friend is a business owner and she doesn't even put her picture on her website for this same reason

I don't know why anyone is surprised. This is America.
  • Please STATE THE NAMES OF THESE FLORIDA APPRAISERS. THEY NEED TO BE UNEMPLOYED.
  • This is very good to report because you have people like Candace Owen's who want to believe that there is not racial inequality.
  • @JustBeYouTy
But people will still say racism doesn’t exist.

She is the LAWYER and makes all the money! 🙄 she should sue these “appraisers!” After the fact! She is a damn lawyer. This is absurd because she knows the law better than most

I’m African American, my wife is Asian.... we were refinancing our home. Appraiser walks in, looks at my wife and immediately cops an attitude; ends up trashing the value of my home with his appraisal. I went after his ass first, he found himself under investigation (by the state) and almost lost his license. Next I got the mortgage company that sent him. Our lawsuit became a class action lawsuit. The company went bankrupt, the owner of the mortgage company croaked during the lawsuit... and in addition to my home, I saved the home of hundreds of other minorities who had been victimized by racist mortgage companies and their associates. And yeah, I got paid. (This was during the collapse of 2007).

They don't want us to ever get ahead.

This has been happening for a long time. Some people get away with it. It's sad but they still do these practices and some people are in denial because they're willfully ignorant.

So sad when she said it hurt to know she was “devaluing” the home just by being in it. Well over a decade ago, my bf at the time and I were apartment hunting in ATL. Found a great place, he used his “white voice” on the phone, everything was fine, but then when we got there, all of the sudden they no longer had any openings and if memory serves me correct, they came out to the car to turn us away. We didn’t even make it in the office. I’ve always suspected it was racism.

What struck me was the fact the landlord said to Glenn 'bless you' as if that would cover his racist bias. I have dealt with this, as long as some people feel they can hide under the cover of "nice", then the willful offense can't be...... racist.
  • I had this happen to me before. I was going to rent a condo from an owner & we spoke several times on the phone about me coming to view the unit. When I got there (I am a black woman) the unit was "mysteriously" rented already. I drove 45mins smh racial profiling is REAL
  • @xino_z
This made me cry. I don't cry much, can count how many times on both hands in the past 15 years. And no, I'm not black. This is pathetic.
  • Lol Diane Sawyer is just now learning about the "black tax." This is every day life!
  • @Mr.Boddie
Smh this doesn't surprise me Jacksonville FL has always been a extremely racist city just sickening this country will never change
  • @joeblack6886
That was her wake up call. Education, your job and marrying out doesn't change the skin you're in. Amerikkka.
  • Diane nothing new here. The good old black tax !This crap been going on for decades. Good old AmeriKKKa.
  • EXACT SAME SCENARIO happened to me. Had to leave my wife home (biracial can pass as white) and remove all my families photos and keep hers up. Sure enough the appraisal came back ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS higher than the last one done a few weeks prior. I was just happy we gamed the system and it worked. But it’s disgusting nevertheless.
