The thing I love about RuthAnn is she doesn't care if we see her make a mess or it doesn't come out magazine perfect. She cooks like we all do.

Am I the only one who loves when the kitties come for their share of fresh milk? Congratulations to your family and thank you for another yummy recipe. Is that cook book still in production?

Those photos really capture the heart of the day. How much joy they will bring you over the years. The three little boys look so dapper. My favourite is seeing the couple being prayed over. 🙏🦋

Oh my goodness! Sorry if this is a long post, but I so cherish my copy of that cookbook! I almost leaped for joy when I saw it on the thumbnail. I'm only 46, but both my parents have passed and my copy I recently had to tape the binding together because it was falling apart and a few pages falling out, but it was given to my mom from my dad as a gift on their 3rd week anniversary. He even wrote inside the cover, "to my darling wife for her 3rd week of married life from her loving husband Bill, Oct 1, 1966." ❤ A recipe I use all the time in there is the ham loaf sauce. I've never made the ham loaf loaf on page 70 because I usually get the Gene Wenger ham loaf mix locally and just put the sauce from in there on top. I also love the scalloped corn recipe on page 151. My dad grew up Amish and my mom Mennonite and he loved mincemeat pie, but mom never liked it, and I always hated the meat in it but loved everything else. So I recently took the recipe on page 372 and made and canned the mince meat recipe, only WITHOUT the meat. Just the apples, raisins, citrus, sugar and spices. Now we have it to put on top of oatmeal, baked oatmeal, pancakes or ice cream. It's so good! Love your channel. I feel like it helps me stay connected to my roots. Even though I didn't grow up Amish, it's still a big part of how I grew up here in Lancaster Co and I have relatives that still wear coverings. God bless you and your family 😊

Ruth Ann, you know I just love watching you with the family. What you see is what you get. Nothing is fake, right down to oops, the cream is on the counter. You and the boys have been barefoot or just in socks. Messy clothes on the kids. A messy apron for you. One of my favorites is the barn. Watching the boys learn to milk, the patience of the beautiful cow, and of course the cats patiently waiting for their drink of milk. I laugh at every squirt! God is truly good. Thank you for letting me home with you and the family. ((hugs))
  • I love watching the kitties drinking milk straight from the cows in the morning! ❤

Thank you for giving us a glimpse! I have 4 daughters and know how much work goes into a wedding! Your children have such a privilege to grow up in an environment that many do not have! Blessings!
  • I have my mother's cookbook published in 1953, the year before I was born. It is well worn and stained but the recipes are a treasure. I loved the three youngest boys in their black suits and shades!

Thank you Ruthann for another peek of the wedding festivities. The decorations were just lovely. I am in the hospital (4 weeks) and have watched all of your wonderful videos and cannot wait to try my hand at canning. Your videos have brighten my long days in bed. Bless you and your beautiful family.
  • Keep on showing all of what you do! Many wouldnt know what we ever did before everything became instant & full of ingredients we do not need..loved your photos of a beautiful wedding!

I was born in 1950 and so I love that you have that cook book. I need to find one. Will be making this banana pudding recipe. RuthAnn, your daughter looked gorgeous and those pictures are just beautiful. The reception decorations were amazing! The three little boys looked so cute. Thank you so much for sharing such a special day with us.

Making banna pudding reminds me watching my grandmother making it. Then having to wait for it to chill. Im 65, thank you for the memory. I got 3 bannas on the counter, hmmm think ill make a memory.
  • Watching Harrison with the whipped cream reminded me of myself and my siblings waiting to lick the beaters when my mother made a cake. 😋

Over here in Australia, we call Vanilla Pudding by the name of Vanilla Custard. I have often heard of Banana Cream Pie but didn't realise it was made this way. I love it. My mother used to make the custard and she would slice bananas into our dessert bowls and then top it with the vanilla custard and sprinkle it with cinnamon, she actually liked nutmeg and put that on her dessert. It was a very common dessert in our house and you are right it does take up the flavour of bananas. Love watching you cook, you are my kind of cook. I make a similar dessert type but a lemon custard or pudding. I make a sugar crust and then slice bananas and sprinkle with passionfruit (if they are in season) I make a sort of custard but instead of milk I use water and lemon juice and pour that over the top. I sprinkle it with coconut and leave it in the fridge for a few hours. The dessert needs to sit so that the flavour goes through the lemon custard and it is delicious. I love to leave it overnight but it usually doesn't make it that far. I do have a recipe but tend to wing it most times. Many blessings to you and your wonderful boys.
  • This is a wonderful recipe; thanks for sharing your knowledge, recipes & lovely life as a busy mom! The wedding looked so beautiful! Those boys are precious! Your girls, too, but they weren’t in this one😉 God bless your family & all that watch🤗🇨🇦
