Why I Bought an iMac G3 in 2024

This is lovely! I've been given a G3 by my aunt, but I haven't been able to boot it up and get it working yet since it lacks a hard drive. Hopefully I'll find success in playing games on it like you and your wife have!

Normality was my first "Holy crap, this game is criminally unknown/underrated" game (or was at the time). 7th guest was my first "WOW CD TECHNOLOGY HOW COOL!" game... and the original Baldur's Gate came out on my birthday and was the first re-imagining of what D&D games could look like (using 2nd edition rules, no less! I knew those rules!). Thankfully, I can play them all, with mostly more ease than back in the day. 7th Guest fought me tooth and nail to actually cooperate with the sound card... Resource conflict hell.

the first time i saw the imac g3 was at compusa. i think it was $1200 at the time. i thought it was cool because it was a all-in-one computer & i like the design. Years later i found a imac g3 blueberry at goodwill for $25. i damn near had a heart attack. so, i grabbed it & went up front & bought it & i still have it today

I've got one of those in my basement still. Either a blue one or a grey one (I had both). Upgraded the RAM and the HD in it. Now it just sits at the back of a shelf collecting dust. I was debating on turning it in to a fishbowl...

Awesome video, just got a DV Special Edition myself. It too has Mac OS X… what’s the cheap way to put OS 9 on it? Burn an ISO onto a CD? Or do I have to eBay all this stuff? (By that I mean the games as well. Have StarCraft and WarCraft II… don’t think my Monkey Island works on Mac. Would have done some homework, but this thing just fell into my lap, wasn’t planning to own one. Pretty neat, and lucky.

I want to get a mini g3 just for the marathon trilogy.
