The 2018 GRENKE Chess Classic is a 10-player round-robin held in Germany from 31 March to 9 April. The first 3 rounds are in Karlsruhe alongside the GRENKE Chess Open, then after a rest day the last 6 rounds are in the Kulturhaus LA8 in Baden-Baden. The field features World Champion Magnus Carlsen and fellow Top 10 players Fabiano Caruana, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Vishy Anand and Levon Aronian, as well as women's no. 1 Hou Yifan.

The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, then 50 minutes for 20 moves and then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. If players are tied for first place a rapid play-off will take place. Official website: www.grenkechessclassic.com

  • He makes every game crystal clear Sometimes I feel like I could play like a super GM the way he makes it sound so easy!! Great job, man.
  • @joesmith3829
After 10 min analyzing the position... I of course..... (dramatic pause).... didn’t find the move...😊
  • @fardinfeiz629
My intuition told me that kd2 is the right move but after that i was kinda lost didn't even consider the knight "sacrifice" :p
  • @wifixmaster804
"But both Fabi and Yifan missed it." My dissapointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

I'm a simple man. I see notification from agadmator, I hit like before watching the whole video :D
  • @landwolf00
Thanks for all of the coverage of the Grenke Classic. It has been a really great series so far.
  • This was really bravely played by Hou Yifan, unfortunetaly she missed the winning move, which shows how complicated even engames with two pieces and a few pawns can be! Thank you very much for uploading, I'm looking forward to new games on this wonderful channel every day!
  • Hou Yifan's performance in this tournament is absolutely brilliant. Draws against Anand and Caruana aren't easy to come by that too with the black pieces. Loved the video as always 😍🤘
  • @feelzthedon994
Goddamn!!! I really like her style and it's unfortunate that she couldn't convert her advantage to a win. I saw that Kd2 move right away. Then again after a long day both players had to have been mentally exhausted..

"a3 - you know, this is top chess" lol, my favorite quote!
  • @manigopal92
When ever you say find the winning move here & feel free to pause the video, i find it. BUT only when you say that there's a winning move, otherwise i would never see it 😜
  • @6teezkid
YOU DO THE BEST CHESS SHOWCASE ONLINE! Every detail isn’t missed. Even your funny comments! Because I stop and start with chess, I’m beginner-intermediate. But, since I’ve been watching your breakdowns of games...WOW! Have I ever improved and appreciate the beauty of chess more than ever. Because of you. I just want to thank you for that. 🏆 - Oh, and by the way, I take your commentary so seriously that I adjust the audio speed to 50%. Also because I can’t keep up with you. 😂.
