My thoughts on the OHUHU 'PASTEL' brush markers!

I apologize for my delayed/sporadic videos. I think i'm having a small flare up of my TA and I feel like a bag of bricks. (Not a happy bag of bricks either. 😓) ANYWAY! for the First Impressions of the markers, Watch the video.
For a summary/review purposes, read my more concise thoughts I've compiled after editing this video:
I prefer this pack to their other 48 sets because it has a lot of colors in a mid-tone area which is what I gravitate towards along with my Pastel Copic's usually. I really wouldn't call the ink in these Ohuhu's "pastels." They work best when mixed with some of the other Ohuhu colors for contrast since they are lighter than 99% of Ohuhu's current colors. The colors are a pretty good hue range. I feel like the earth tones are a little too cool/cold for my personal liking but depending on how you use them, they should be okay for skin tones on the lighter range. They are probably best for illustrations more landscape-y in nature.
In conclusion, I would recommend these as a first Ohuhu set if you were on the fence between these and the original 48 set. Since you can build them up slower than darker colors. I also recommend them as an addition to the other Ohuhu sets since they are brand new colors and they will give you some actual contrast which is what other Ohuhu set's lack. Ideally with the 25 set of 'Skin-Tone''s as a secondary purchase. Unfortunately you do have to buy two sets for that, but thats how it goes with this brand. I still like the brush nib quality and the ink isn't patchy or anything weird. I don't think you'll be disappointed with these as a beginner. I was slightly disappointed just because they don't stack up next to actual pastel Copic markers, but they are a long way from how deep and rich the other Ohuhu set's are, and for that I am glad. Again, wouldn't really call these pastel, but they are lighter than the other options Ohuhu sells.
At the time of writing this, they are sold out on Amazon. So I guess you guys liked them! ;) It looks like you can still get them on the Ohuhu website though.

Also I forgot to mention, Ohuhu sent me these markers. I did not pay for them nor was I compensated monetarily to make this video. I would have bought them myself, not that it matters. I've actually been personally requesting Ohuhu release colors like this for years. I'm glad the day finally came, even if they aren't exactly the pastel colors I was hoping for. Maybe next time!

Quick tip for anyone who doesn't know: you actually put the colorless blender down before the colors! It's kind of like how you sometimes put water down before watercolor paints to help blend them together. You use the blender where you wanna blend two colors, then layer on top of that. Hope this helps, happy drawing!

The second they release single refills for their markers they’ll be such a huge competitor it’s insane
  • It’s a Saturday, I watched a movie, made a cake, and now waffle posted? Best day ever!
  • "Let's try light blue I think it's the darkest one we've got." My sense of humor has decreased so much that that was funny to me.

When you realize that you've watched her since she didn't have copics and now she has ENOUGH copics to compare them to the ohuhus
  • Hey Rin!!!! You probably don’t remember because you answer so many comments on all your videos, but a couple weeks ago, I commented on your one about drawing birds asking for advice on becoming more fluent. And OMG ever since you told me to keep at it and keep using references, my confidence shot up and my art has gotten SO much better!! I can’t thank you enough!! You’re my biggest inspiration! Have a great weekend! 💜💜 Update: wow guys thanks for all the likes and support! ☺️
  • You should add a boy to the ohuhu group!! You’re doing male characters more and more it would be cool! Maybe he rides a bike?

The only reason why I didn’t bought these markers the exact moment Ohuhu released them is because I was waiting for ur review✨

The lack of contrast was something I noticed too. Glad you mentioned that because I wasn't sure what to make of it, and wondered if I were being too nitpicky over it. 😅 I don't own alot of copics so hearing that they have colors that go even lighter sounds impressive.

Jeez, how is she so confident in her marker strokes? Markers give me commitment issues, as soon as it’s on the paper, it’s over.
  • @marissavillain
Here’s hoping people will stop referring to any brand of alcohol markers that isn’t Copic as “knock-offs”
  • @hershidrawz
I haven’t realized how much I needed my weekly dose of Rin until I saw this video 👀 😌✨🦋

I can’t be the only one that thought she was gonna design a “rival gang” when she mentioned weelz and the gang haha
  • @AkoyaMizuno
Rather than the names being 'stolen,' it seems more likely that both Ohuhu and Copic were trying to match a third colour system (like the old web safe colours or Pantone).

Take a drink of water every time Waffles says “saturated”

This might be really random, and most likely you won’t see this Rin, but you have helped me so so much throughout finding my art style. I used to draw “scary sticks with outfits”, but when I found your channel, I learned all about different guidelines I could use for proportions, how to do good shading, and how to make my drawings not look stiff. I would watch your videos every day and I think I’ve improved so much! You have inspired me to start drawing, and to continue to draw. Now I post my own videos, because I felt like sharing my art. But thank you Rin, for inspiring me to do art!!
  • Hey Rinn! I just picked up digital art this new year and i literally CAN’T STOP!! XD it’s so much fun! I’ve been opened up to a whole new realm of possibilities
  • Hi I am Stevie and I am 13 from New Zealand and in the past week I have been drawing characters and I have been getting better and better and it’s all because of that one video we’re you teacher us how to draw your characters and you broken them down into steps and I just can’t thank you enough though out these past weeks I have been getting more and more art supplies I just want to say thank you. Keep. Up your amazing work Rin!!!

When I saw these for the first time, I admittedly thought, "I can't wait for Drawing Wiff Waffles reviews these" 😭😭😭
