The world has trusted Chinese manufacturing for decades, but recently many politicians are stating Western countries must decouple from China. Will Chinese manufacturing continue to play a vital role in our global economy? Today I travel to Wuxi, China to visit a Chinese textile factory to see how Chinese factories make clothes.

Thank you to Tommy and Andy from the Kalito Team for inviting me to China and hosting me during my stay in Wuxi! It was a pleasure to film this documentary film. If you are interested in learning more about Kalito, please contact Tommy and visit the Kalito website here:

Worked in the textile industry for years in the UK and this in China is impressive.

Fifty years ago I found a pair of red leather gloves. They are still going strong, despite considerable abuse. Recently I pulled the lining out a bit to dry them and there was a hidden label. It said “Made in China”.

In India I worked in a factory in staff position and the owners used to pay minimum wage to the workers 9000 rupee's only, some of them worked for more then 5 years but the maximum the promotions got you to was 13000 Rupees only, while the Owner owned Audi, Mercedes and earned a heavy profit each year. They could have easily efford to double the the wages of all the workers without hitting thier profit margin much but they chose not to do so.

I visited China as a tourist ten years ago, and it was a real eye opener. They are a good hard working people. Add that to a total lack of labor unions and lawyers, and a well meaning employer, and you have a recipe for a good product for both the customer and the employees who makeit.

I've had a side gig as a technical interpreter for a few years now. Most of my jobs involve Chinese factories, some good, some bad. The "good ones" are absolutely on par with even the best European factories I've seen. Clean, well organized and with a clear focus on quality; just like the one in this video. I can totally see "Made in China" becoming a mark of quality someday.

    你好兄弟,我现在住在成都,我拥有一家纺织公司,很高兴看到中国工业的发展

So glad you showed the current picture of China’s industry. I believe that many Westerners still stay in the era of making clothes by hand in China.

It's amazing factory and environment! Can you imagine in USA some boss stand up next to employee and give a hug like in this video? Nope. He is goings to be in trouble.

Thank you Cyrus for showing us the real Chinese factory look like.

I've been to over 200 factories in China. It's not only the textile factories that operate like this. From toy manufacturers to electronics, the supply chains are all integrated. Moving production to Vietnam, Malaysia, India, etc, most of the components are still coming from China, so it only increases transportation costs and lead time if something goes wrong in the supply chain. Large part of of the shift to outside of china is to avoid tariffs, and the anti-china propaganda.

Not only 300 workers but it is 300 families. Nice thought 🙏🌹🌹

Apart from a complete supply chain, China also provides homemade equipment, raw material, efficient logistics, a stable power supply, and a skillful, competitive labor source. I have not counted the largest use of industry robotic technology. China become the world factory for a reason.
  • @ncchew3356
That the Norwegian opened a factory in China, and not Europe, says a lot about China.
  • @goinnovation1011
It is not easy to objectively discuss a grand global economic issue from a textile factory. But the actual business case is the most convincing. If you know China, the best way is to go deep into the front line to understand Chinese manufacturing. Thank you blogger for sharing!
  • @frankcameratalk
I am wearing JL when watching this video, too. It is of best quality.
  • @ccpun3790
Thanks for showing us the rejuvenated Chinese factory ethics, treating workers as family "jia-ren'. Today's China lives her own unique philosophy. There is an old Chinese saying, "In poor, one takes care of one's humble self; when "reached", one should care for the realm".
  • @winnitaqi
I really appriciate your efforts to show the world about modern China. My husband loves China and try to change the prejudices around him. But you went much further. We know how hard it is. Respect!
  • I really like this Norwegian businessman and his principles and the American interviewer who did a great job with the interview. They both seemed to be very genuine in what they were saying, I'm very glad I watched this YouTube video. I gave a like and subscribed.
