Chevy Impala - Sat For 2 Years - No Start, No Crank - Part I

Publicado 2024-08-10
In this video I have a look at a customer's 2007 Chevy Impala that he purchased used but has yet to hear it run. I was parked for a few years and the mice moved in but is that the issue? Let's have a look.
-Enjoy!

  • PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - If you are watching this video on 8/10/24 or 8/11/24 and you don't fall asleep before the end screen and you see that part II is listed as "Members Only." DO NOT PANIC Do not send me nasty emails, don't unsubscribe, don't tell me I am an asshole or a sellout in the comments and DO NOT CALL MY SHOP to tell me you can't watch it. The part II will be posted on the 12th at 5pm just like I ALWAYS DO. The reason it says members only is because there are some folks choose to support our YouTube channel by becoming a "YouTube Member" and it gives them early access to all videos I put out. Take a breath, slow down, everything is gonna be OK. Nothing has changed. It's still FREE like it has been for the past 10 years. Thanks for watching! -Eric O. • Groucho Marx Said 'I would never join a club that would have me' I generally agree with this but for SMA I make an exception. 🤣🤣🤣
  • @MP-po4fp
There is no other mechanic on YT that can diagnose and be entertaining like this.
  • @curtw8827
The great thing about these videos is we already know the ending, the hero wins.
  • @paulwatson1507
Since my stroke, I don’t have the energy to wrench like I used to, SMA keeps me up to date on the latest and greatest.

Eric you are a lot of awesome things, but one of the best is that you are a teacher who is willing to better others by sharing your knowledge. We laugh, smile, sit entertained, and simply enjoy watching you but best of all we learn from you. Stay fantastic brother.

Long, short, or two parts as long as it's from SMA, it's a good day. Thanks, Eric O, and the rest of the crew.
  • These troubleshooting videos are the best, we love the long videos, and the part 2,3,4, ext 😂. Great job and video as always!!!

You remind me of a local GOOD mechanic we have. I had a vehicle that had a left o2 sensor code. I replaced the sensor, still had issue. Brought it to him. he located a wire over the transmission that led to left O2 sensor had been chewed by a damn rat. Once he located, I asked how much to repair. He said, If he had to pull transmission, $800, if he could figure something else out without removing trans, $200. He ended up pulling drive shaft, and rear trans cross member, allowing him to splice wire and repair. He charged me the $200, could have easily lied and said he had to pull trans, he didn't. That was 10 yrs ago, vehicle is 2007, still driving strong today!

Damn, at a time of nationwide mediocrity, it is so calming and gratifying to watch this fella work through a puzzle. An honest and competent expert. Eric should open his own mechanics trade school in his "spare time"!

@2 parts, 3 parts , doesn't matter to me. Always enjoy your analytical style. Thank you!

My short term memory became problematic after I had Covid in May 2020. Still have issues but not as bad. I hope Mr. O, that yours is a short term issue and not long term. I really enjoy the diagnostic videos. Your method is easy to follow, consistent. I am now able to anticipate your next move and make bets with myself what the problem is and at where it will surface.

Watching SMA on a Saturday morning waiting for some pre season football! And the stuff that falls out of Eric O’s mouth is amazing? From Rush Hour movie quotes to lines from Alana Morriset songs? You sir are a Renaissance Man! How does Mrs.O or your kids keep up with the stuff tumbling around inside of your head? As always you are a reason for YouTube videos! Thank You…..

I almost got burnt on this car a while back thinking it was the BCM after all the tests you just did, come to find out it was the low speed can bus that was shorted through the airbag module, the telltale was no square around the gear selection in the cluster lead me to the low speed CAN bus bar or splice right near that BCM, checked each one for comms and the airbag one was grounded. Pulled the pin, slapped the “comb” connector back in and roberts your mothers brother everything came back online and started like a dream! Not saying its the same problem but darn near similar!!
  • @metalmangle
A good mechanic that also does his due diligence... No parts cannon here. This is unheard of. :D You also has excellent taste in music.
  • @tomtke7351
Radio station owner once commented: "good music is good regardless of genre."
  • We love the long ones and the 2 parters! Thanks for the entertainment, Eric!
  • @Sand-man1124
Gotta love your parts cabinet, Wilbert’s. Take us with you.
  • Thank you Eric for your videos, it really changes a bad day to a good day just watching them. Always love to see the issues fixed and also for a great laugh :)

I had a 2008 impala with the 3.5 V6. Sad to see that impala sit for so long cause mine was the most reliable car i ever own. She hit 330,000 miles no problem before the transmission started to give me trouble. Everything still worked even the AC, never left me stranded on the side of the road for mechanical reasons, but i had the usual dead battery or flat tire but that doesn't count towards that. I do miss miss that car, drove smooth like a caddy and i had a few things done to it so it had more power than your usual impala. Seeing this car and hearing the chimes and lights on the dash brings back memories, seeing the 35 on the temp usually meant something electrical went wrong, not my car but i worked at a dealership as a porter and i noticed seeing 35 for a temp meant a big headache for the mechanic
