A Summer Day With Neptune

Published 2014-03-22
There was a day, between Christmas and the new year of 2000, the exact date I cannot recall. I ventured to a dog pound to rescue a dog. That would be the day I first met Neptune; they estimated her age to be about a year and a half. I had just turned 19 a few months earlier.
Neptune would become my best friend in the entire world. On October 25th, 2013, my beloved Wind Wolf passed away. I still can't bear the sadness, the empty void her passing has left.
Although I didn't take many photographs of her in the early years, from about 2009 until she passed I took thousands upon thousands of photos and videos of her. Oddly, I had never thought about what these would mean to me when she passed. Although these definitely cause me some sadness, they also conjure up the joy our special bond brought to my life.
If you've ever lost a dog that filled your world happiness, you will understand how much it means to me that I have this simple video of my best friend strolling to my house on a summer day.
May you rest in the sweetest of peace, my dear friend.
