Should Christians Listen To Secular Music | A Christian's Perspective

Publicado 2021-05-12
Hey CK Fam! This video I answered the question: "Should Christians Listen To Secular Music?". I shared a lot about the impact secular music have on us as children of God and what we should look for in every music to help us determine if we should listen to it or not. I pray that you are blessed by this, Enjoy!

when i first decided to to stop listening to secular music in 2019, i was worried i would have a really short playlist . Boy was i wrong . i started with jonathan McReynolds and by time i realised i have a gospel song for every mood . start somewhere and God will help you find songs that brings you closer to him .

Yeah just cause it's good, doesn't mean it's beneficial. Think of Philippians 4:8 also when choosing your movies 🥰

There’s so much fire and edifying Christian music anyways, when God told me to lay down secular music he replaced it with awesome music by my brothers & sisters in Christ ✝️🙌💯

This definitely helped a lot! I’m always in between with gospel and secular because honestly they both sound good! But I love how you said”Does this edify my relationship with God?” This will definitely help me be more careful when I listen to music! Thank you so much! 💗

Im glad to see this. Lately, I been reading scripture and listening to secular music. Jesus messages are really not there but messages of love are there! I listen to more gospel than secular music, but the challenge is challenging to stop!

This question is very consequential. The power of music is such that it has direct link to the brain and therefore it has assess to your thinking pattern. This means it has the potential to reorganize your thinking and influence your decision gradually. And the worse part is that music has a direct link to your heart/spirit. So any word used in lyrics has a straight course to your spirit. And most of these music are initiated before they are released so demons come upon the music deal to influence people. You need to know that, the eyes and ears are the window and door into our mind and heart. The bible says we should guide our heart. So don't listen to any kind of music, words are powerful. Jesus said" John.6.63 - It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." The devils also speak words that are spirit but gives death. The bible also admonish us not to speak idle words, for such He will judge, there are songs which may seems right to you but are backed by demonic spirit. Any song which is not inspired by the Holy spirit, you must be on guard to it, some may be motivational but you have to draw your line to where you get your motivations from, Your hope is only in the Word of God( Jesus). Col.3.16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Harp of David, made distressing spirit to flee from Saul.(1Sam.16:23) That's why you need to rejoice with songs inspired by the Holy spirit. If a music can exorcise, it can also possess you with demons. Don't be negligence and fall to secular music. Let the joy of the Lord be our strength. Finally I leave you with this scripture. Phil.4.8 - Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. Thank you all for reading, let's all guide our heart because that's where the issues of this life proceed. Let the Grace of God help us to abide in His word. This topic came at a perfect timing as I have been wondering this lately because I am fresh into taking my christian faith seriously and still listen to secular music from time to time. BUT I do have a few songs that I listen to daily :) 1. When you praise - Fred Hammond & Radical for Christ 2. More Than Anything - Anita Wilson 3. Fill the room - Maverick City 4. They That Wait - Fred Hammond 5. Yahweh - All Nations Music

Sometimes when I want the afrobeats feel to a Christian song I just speed it up by 1.25x😭

I was actually starting to justify how listening to love songs was fine until you said "there are different types of love songs and not all lead to the love of Christ" I thought to my self," Well the Bible talks about love so let me listen to some love songs" and I was almost lured in the wrong direction. Thank you brother!
  • listening to the music or the profanity is not necessarily the sin. The sin comes when what you consume begins to influence your thoughts, your words, or your actions. THAT is what defiles you, There is no sin, necessarily, in what you “consume;” the sin is whatever might come of it. .Ok see for me being a Christian a lots of people judge me for the music I listen too I know the lyrics aren't good but I really don't see anything wrong with it , I have prayed to god about a couple of time it and since then I still feel ok I go by personal guidelines that works for me now since then their has been some songs that I now don't feel comfortable with and have gotten rid of . Music doesn't cause me to sin and I've noticed that, for me music is a part of what I identify with and I have always loved it. We don't need to hide from everything but we need to be careful on what we are putting into our minds Everyone's spiritual conscience is different not everyone is the same so what is OK for me might not be OK for you and that's ok. Maybe later on my opinion on this will change, Maybe this is something God isn't working on me yet maybe I'm ok right now and there might come a time to where I have crossed Boundaries and he'll be like whoa OK we need the rel it in a bit , idk but I am now going to not worry about what Other people have to say and trust my walk with god
  • I think there is a difference between secular music and UNGODLY music; the former may not necessarily be explicitly christian but its lyrics may promote christian values or a christian worldview e.g. Infinity Song are a music band who make secular music but they are Christians and you can see it in their lyrics. The latter however is explicity ANTI-CHRISTIAN and promotes hedonistic and carnal values e.g. WAP by Cardi B and Megan the Stallion etc.

Here’s my vision. My housemate loves secular music especially Afro beats or music with women vulgar dancing. So, I was asleep when I found myself stand in my friends bedroom. He was laying on his bed, scrolling through his phone but there was music playing on the TV, it was afrobeat. Lo and behold I suddenly saw like someone vomiting 🤮 see how the vomit domes out? It was with such force that I saw demons of all kinds, and pouring into my friend who was innocently just laying there browsing the internet. He had no idea he was being possessed by uncountable demons. I remember this like it was yesterday. Stay away from worldly music. We have Godly music in the genres you might like, look for those.

A lot of it isn’t good actually tho btw bro - secular music may sound good but it’s not actually good. A lot of it is industry controlled, emphasizing and praising sexuality and multiple other things. It is worldly that’s why we have to be careful but when we’re talking to people about it we should be patient, kind, and gentle in our discussion just like you did in this video ✝️🙌👏👏👏🙏

I’ve been on this topic lately as I’ve been on a journey for a short while and I “DJ”. Mid next year I will be playing some tunes for a parish event…. Music is Me and I have so many questions and find myself being “pulled” from all types of genres. Thankful for this topic and your channel. The journey continues…
