I took the Canon R6 Mark II against the Canon R7 with the 24-70 2.8 RF lens and I was shocked on which camera performed best. Check out these amazing results from both cameras.

Which camera do you do like the best with the Canon 24-70 2.8 RF?
  • @redditsucksyo
Bought the R7 at launch, bought a few of the primes and then bought the 24-70 because it was on sale and there was a cashback on top.. been having lots of fun with that combo.. it is my preferred walk around setup at the moment. The only letdown is that it is not as usable for indoors product photography as I'd like. The RF 35 should also get an honorable mention being that it is essentially a 50mm with IS on the R7 which is unheard of for full frame plus that thing is sharp.
  • @jefftaz7401
Great video, enjoyed seeing the difference between the R6 ii and R7. For future videos, would like to see one on how you shoot detail shots for real-estate. I heard that a 50mm prime works well in that situation.
  • @MiQBohlin
Very interesting test and info. I’m very close to order a R7 but haven’t decided yet which lens to go for.
  • @bparis
Do you know how the footage from the R6II in crop mode compares to the R7? That would give you a similar field of view, but just wondering if there is a drop in quality when just using a crop of the full frame.

Instead of having both FF and aps-c, i have R7 with speedbooster and normal ef/rf-adapter. Both are great with ef-lenses (like ef16-35Lis2 and ef50/1.2L). This has made my 6Dmk2 obsolete. Only rf-lenses i have are rf-s10-18 and rf100-500L. Both for wild life. The latter is a stunning beast.

Hey Jared! I'm coming from a Canon T8i with an EF 70-200mm IS II USM, EF 28mm, and EFS 18-55mm. I'm having a hard time deciding because I'm torn between the R6MK2 and the R7. I love the space of the R6MK2 as a full-frame, but I'd like your opinion based on the equipment I have. I'm doing a mix bag of photography right now, mostly sports but looking to get back into portraits, but no videography. I have no problem with buying an adapter if needed. This would be my first major upgrade and while my budget is tight I have no fear waiting a bit longer and save up if needed. What are your thoughts?
  • @pokeypop99
Great review and definitely not what I expected when I clicked in. I was fully expecting a comparison of AF, IBIS, MP and all that stuff. Your take is very intriguing. I'm weighing buying "a" new body, and depending on my choice, I may swap out a pretty significant investment in lenses. I'd been looking at it from FF vs crop vs MFT. Your perspective on having multiple bodies (FF and crop) is interesting. I'll want to do the price math on that, but it almost seems like one could have one or two fewer lenses in the bag if you did a body swap instead of having a lens for every occasion fitted to whatever sensor you have. Especially helpful to me was your consideration of "look" and bokeh comparing focal length and crop factor! Nice insight!

I have the R6ii and the R7 to double my lenses. I have kept all my EF lenses and use the EF to RF adapter with the filters. I can easily swap lenses from 14mm to 24-70 for example and have full use of a ND filter in the adapter. Its the best thing since sliced bread, being able to just swap out lenses and have ND or PL already available to use. And with the full frame and crop keeping the max apertures on your lenses just by swapping bodies. Its the best....................highly recommend.

Dope video man I’m thinking of getting the R6 mark 2 thank you for explaining
  • @lb7144
Awesome demonstration of these two wonderful cameras. I just picked up an R6 MKII and it doesn’t disappoint for what I do. What I really enjoy about the R62 is I can adapt my EF & my EF-S lenses. The crop is automatic for the EF-S Canon lenses. I have all the STM EF-S and EF STM which all function amazingly on the R62. I get the benefits of full frame RF glass and the duality of EF/EF-S functionality out of the R62 when adapted. I use the drop in variable ND filter adapter.
  • Afternoon Jared, Trying to compare these 2 cameras for hockey photography at the high school level. We owned the Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 is II lens. What's your thoughts? I usually take pic's from the middle of the ice or close to the blue line. Most of the glass/plexiglass we have around the rinks is terrible to shoot through. I previously had the Canon T6i but wanted to move to mirrorless. Appreciate your feedback.
  • Hey, im actually looking at getting back to photography after 10 years of doing diffrent stuff, i had the 5D mk2 is the R6 mk2 the only sane full sensor choice ? Or am i overlokking something?
  • @TeddyCavachon
Good glass is the great equalizer, why when becoming joined at the lens mount to Canon in 2004 with an 8MP 20D I also purchased the 24-70mm 2.8 L and 70-200mm 2.8 L IS along with the very good 10-20mm EF-S. Because of the IQ of the lenses I didn’t upgrade my DSLR past the 15MP 50D because with skilled post processing the combination of IQ was more than adequate for sharing photos on-line and making prints up to 16 x 20 and even larger, depending on the subject. Starting in 2012 when I got a iPad with 1080p camera and iMovie I started shooting and posting videos and realized I was getting more and better feedback from them than I ever had posting stills on web pages. I started using my DSLR gear less because shooting and editing video on phone/tablet was far more convenient. What motivated me to buy a new mirrorless camera this year was a new interest in shooting wildlife and a desire to up my video game. I debated between the R7 and R6mkII, opting for the latter with a RF 100-500mm because I thought it the better platform for video over the long term. For everything else other than wildlife (studio portraits, events with dual 580ex flash) my 15MP 50D is still adequate for my needs.

Before watching this video, I had previously seen your video titled "Canon R6 Mark II Unboxing and Unexpected Discovery". I have owned an R6 Mark II since early December 2022. The photo bag is the only antidote to that damn irritating sound of stabilization rattling in this camera model. Unfortunately, at the time when I was buying this camera model, I also bought myself the first photographic backpack in many years to relieve my spine, and I was unpleasantly surprised. This model of the camera with the lens attached to it cannot be carried in a backpack, i.e. when the camera is closer to the head and is usually directed with the lens downwards. Just go to a place where there is no urban bustle, and with every step you take, you will hear a single rattle of stabilization. You usually carry a photo bag around your hips or move it on your back (i.e. it is very far from your ears), thanks to which this problem is, as they say, "survivable".

Hey Jared I’m thinking about getting in to photograph and videography and this will be my first camera that I will buy and one of the things I’ll also use the camera for is to do live streaming which camera do you recommend me to use
  • @AkaBull
Don't forget the R6 mkii has an in body crop, so you don't necessarily have to buy an APC if you have this camera or one with the crop feature.
  • Im so torn! Im very new to photography on this level. Im looking at these 32 for work. I work at a big bakery and wanting to take product photos to the next level. But also be able to film small commercial type videos for social media. Not sure which camera to pick.
  • @newvillagefilms
I'm debating which one to get, an R6 MII or an R7 to replace my old broken 5D MKIII. I do a mix bag of photography as a hobby. I like the full frame feature of the R6 and the 33MP feature of the R7. I'd like to be able to use my old Canon EF lenses still. What do you recommend?
  • Hello Jared! Can you recommend a sd card for 4k Video shooting in R6 mark ii.
