I can't begin to tell you how psyched I am for this! I don't want to overhype things for you but The Expanse might just be one of the best sci-fi's ever put to Television! You are in for such a ride, and I can't wait to see your thoughts on this!

The Expanse is one of the shows i envy people who are getting to watch it for the first time...

One thing to remember, ships only have gravity when they're under acceleration, so it's not like Star Trek artificial gravity. The bird's not struggling. It's adapted to Ceres's very low gravity, so it only has to flap its wings every so often to keep flying. The first season is basically a murder mystery...with a possible war as the outcome.
  • Yes!!! Another under appreciated show that needs more eyes on it. Cannot wait!

Welcome to the best sci-fi series ever. The best thing is it stays as true to real physics as is possible for a tv show. The writing and character development is unmatched by any series I've seen. New sub here to watch you take this journey. You are going to love it.

This is how Hollywood should do a show, diverse and full of strong characters of all types in an organic realistic way, full of excellent writing acting and direction that shows instead of tells.

The first 3-4 episodes may seem slow, as there's a lot of world building to be done, but things pick up pretty quick after episode 4...and it doesn't stop until the last show of the last season. I've been a Sci-Fi fan for about 50 years and this is, hands down, some of the best I've ever seen. Hope you enjoy it.

Welcome to The Expanse. This story began as a role-playing game, then was made into a successful 9-book novel saga, presented here as a television series. The original creators of the game and the novels are on the screenwriting team. So, from the beginning they know how it ends, and the plot sticks quite closely to the books. Because they know how the story proceeds, the early episodes and seasons contain a plethora of foreshadowing and Chekov's Guns pointing to future events. You have already seen clues to events as late as the fifth season. They don't hold your hand. They don't have dialog between characters telling the audience things the characters already know. They don't give the audience an "omniscient" view of information none of the characters has. There is no fluff...all the dialog and scenes are important. If they show it, you need to know it. Even background dialog and computer screens convey information. Everything is explained, but you have to pay attention. You're going to get a refresher in real physics and Solar astronomy because real science is a character in this story. The Belters speak a creole from current languages that is fully fleshed and meaningful. Welwala, for instance, is English and Hindi. "Wel" refers to the deep gravity well of the inner planets, and wala derives from a Hindi word for "fellow." So, a welwala technically means a person from the inner planets, but when referring to a Belter, it means a Belter who has a perverse love for the inner planets. Inyaloda refers to people of the inner planets, beltaloda refers to residents of the Belt. It will useful to turn on subtitles to get used to it.
