Hey so I just wanna mention I by no means pretend to know everything or point out everything, one of the reasons I like doing these is so I can find out details from the comments and we get a pretty cool little comment section going

Novayon: “The teeth obviously is the kanji for light.” Me, a lifelong KH fan with an Oathkeeper keychain on his car keys: 😮

Interesting fact about ultima weapon in KH 1 it has a single shaft in KH 2 the shaft is split into 2 and in KH 3 the shaft is split into 3.
  • @GUNDAMSTARX
Much of the Spellbinder's design is referencing Merlin's owl: Archimedes. If you look at the guard area, the two round shapes are eyes with the bottom being the nose. Also, the two notches on the guard are actually ears. The round shape at the top of the blade is another eye. The rest of the design is the obvious astrology and magical references. Also, Owl gives you this Keyblade in Chain of Memories.
  • @AbandonedVoid
The Ultima Weapon looking like the Dream Sword blew my mind. I always wondered why Donald and Goofy got the Dream Wand and Dream Shield, but Sora never got the Dream Sword back.
  • @gamenerd4444
Interesting thing about One-Winged Angel’s chain being a red thread is that in FF7 Advent Children the characters wear red ribbons that look very similar on their arms in memory of Aerith, but KH1FM predates Advent Children by almost 3 years.
  • I love Spellbinder because you get it exactly when you need it; Atlantica is 100% a magic-centric world, and the +2MP is huge.

Forgot to mention the swinging effect of each Keyblade. When swung the blades will glow with one of three colors, each correlating to their length

Unmentioned detail of One-Winged Angel - teeth is meteor - whilst technically mentioned, the blade itself is the masamune, sephiroths sword, however i believe its the version equipable by cloud - the chain is aeriths ribbon (you can tell bc of the way its tied) - the keychain itself is sephys iconic wing - the flames in the handle look to be pheonix downs - the hilt itself may be a referance to one of yuffies weapons but im unsure, either that or that it reminds me of maybe a frame on barrets gun arm (although thats reaching a bit) just thought i'd try and add

I love metal chocobo only because I like imagining sora beating xianort over the head with a giant slab of metal.
  • the metal chocobo completely decimates the second riku fight in HB outside of lv 1. Its length makes the recoil you get when your parry his attacks very easy to deal with. That raises it up for me.

Someone else might have said this already, but if you continue this as a series for every game do NOT sleep on re:coded. If only because it is the only game in the series so far that changes the basic combo and feel of the move set entirely between keyblades. The difference between Olympia and Three Wishes is FELT even more than just seen (as an example), and there are still new keyblades too. It would also be pretty neat to look at the low resolution versions of the repeat keyblades and seeing if anything important was lost in the downgrade.
  • I think the purple of divine rose refers to beast's cape, also to clash with the "beauty" of the rose.
  • @TheAzulmagia
As a small correction, you can get Divine Rose immediately upon returning to Hollow Bastion if you go to the library as soon as you enter the Main Hall.
  • I wasn't a fan of them making Divine Rose as powerful as it is, or dropping Metal Chocobo's strength. Growing up, I always saw it as a trade off. I could get two of the strongest Keyblades in Metal Chocobo and Oblivion, but had to give up magic to do so. It wasn't until you got Ultima Weapon that you had a Keyblade for both. But in Final Mix, Divine Rose doesn't really have a trade off. It's just extremely powerful and doesn't cost any magic to do so. It's so weird to me.
  • @glacierwolf2155
I like how the Kingdom Key is colored more like Riku than Sora, cementing the twist that Riku may be the destined wielder of the Keyblade in HB even more, which was proven in BBS.

What I like about ultima Keyblade, its the representation of the fruits of your labor. (Something I haven't say as much.) Kingdom Key, it's a simple design yet has been the rebellion of the kingdom hearts. No matter how weak it looks or how simple is it, it's still a buddy to have. Oblivion.. is when one is lost, but not lost all, it consider to be someone's strive to live, no matter what hell it represents. Oath keeper, is an oath, a promise to one and another. To keeps one promise becomes a failure, or a satisfying end.
  • I just realized that the clouds at the hilt of Olympia are literally flexing
  • @strictlybananas
Man, you roasted the hell out of my favorite Keyblade’s design haha R.I.P. Metal Chocobo 2002-2021
