Illinois is trying to make sure all women get the same care when having a baby. Gov. JB Pritzker on Monday signed legislation meant to improve post-partum care and save the lives of new Black mothers.

    Studies show the causes to be related to entering pregnancy while already unhealthy with pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, obesity and diabetes. Also, disregard for prenatal care during the first tri-mester. Anxiety and depression can also be exasperated in single parent households. Blaming racism instead of self responsibility and accountability is getting old. Child tax credits and free diapers will not fix the real problems.
