I met Jim at a meet and greet. I was so shocked when I saw him because he was one of my favorite guitar players. I was so taken back that I forgot to get him to sign my copy of .5 The Gray Chapter. I went back up to him after he finished signing everyone else’s things and asked him if he could sign my album. He said of course and talked to me a bit more. Right before Surfacing played, I was in the pit during their set and Jim noticed me in the crowd. He pointed at me, gave me a head nod and flicked me a guitar pick. It went the other direction and he tried one more time. It landed somewhere in front of me but the song was about to start so he mouthed “sorry” and shrugged. The pit started opening up and I saw his pick on the ground. You bet I snagged that and have it to this day. That is one of my favorite memories ever. Jim Root is legendary and changed my life from that day on.

Finally someone admits it . . . you can't re-create the Iowa feel again

I managed to get side stage at a slipknot concert. Then the security told me to move, as i was leaving Jim came up grabbed me by the shoulder and said come back and stand where you were. That’s a really genuine nice dude.

Definitely have experienced him going out of his way for fans first hand. Slipknot were playing a date in my country and it was the first time I was going to see them. I got surprised with a VIP ticket so I got to go to a meet and greet. I was super nervous, as I was about to meet the band that had kept me above ground during my darkest period. I had gotten a poster with the VIP package, and I brought my Iowa CD for them to sign. People who were running the meet and greet told us that we could only get ONE item signed, and then move on. I panicked, and didn't know what to do. So, when it's my turn, Jim is first in line. He shakes my hand with the firmest handshake I've ever felt. He asks "So, what do you have there?" (I had all my things in a plastic bag) I go: "Well I don't know, I have a CD and a poster, but we could only get one item signed.." He immediately grabs the bag from me, takes out the poster first and signs that. Then he grabs the CD and signs that as well. After which, he passed both items on to the others and leaned in towards me and said "If anyone gives you crap for this, tell them to blame me" and then gave me a pat on the shoulder. One of the best moments I've experienced in meeting someone who means so much to me.

Jim is absolutely right, there will never be another Iowa. That snapshot analogy was completely spot on. Even though they may not be as "Heavy" now, they are WAY BETTER musicians now than the Iowa days. So there are pros and cons either way.

Jim is so humble. He literally acts like he doesn’t know he’s an absolute metal god 😂🤟🏼. Mick and Jim duo is truly special.

Jim Root is literally one of the only reasons I continue to support Slipknot because he is so cool and humble.

Genuine guy. He's not away with the fairies like most bands

Met Jim a couple times after Slipknot and Stone Sour shows and he is the nicest, most genuine dude. Lots of respect for this guy.

1:23 We're not that band anymore And that just confirms what my heart already knew. Damn it.
  • @jagdkotze
interesting how he denys Corey. Even saying he isn't a fan of covering songs that have a legend status. That's what Corey loves to do. He has his own opinion and it is not all PR speech which is good.

Wow she must be pretty tall because she makes Jim look an average height
